Key Notes
- Qatar Airways inaugurated its twice-weekly Doha service to Bogotá and Caracas on November 4 using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
- The regular Wednesday and Sunday route follows a Doha–Bogotá–Caracas–Doha loop, so intermediate stops depend on the direction of travel.
- A LATAM codeshare expansion adds onward connections from Bogotá to 17 Colombian destinations.
Qatar Airways launched flights linking Doha with Bogotá and Caracas on November 4, adding two South American capitals to its network. The twice-weekly service uses Boeing 777-200LR aircraft and gives travelers new connections between Colombia, Venezuela and the airline’s Doha hub.
The carrier announced the inauguration on Wednesday, becoming the first Gulf airline to serve Venezuela. Bogotá and Caracas bring its network in the Americas to 17 destinations.
One Loop Connects Three Capitals
The published regular timetable follows a Doha–Bogotá–Caracas–Doha loop, with departures from Doha on Wednesdays and Sundays. All times below are local:
- Doha to Bogotá: departs at 07:35 and arrives at 16:25.
- Bogotá to Caracas: departs at 17:55 and arrives at 21:00.
- Caracas to Doha: departs at 23:30 and arrives at 20:35 the following day.
That routing makes the direction of travel important. The regular Doha–Bogotá leg is nonstop, while passengers continuing from Doha to Caracas stop in Bogotá. In the other direction, Caracas has a nonstop flight to Doha, while the Bogotá–Doha journey stops in Caracas.
The new connection is designed to link with onward flights at Hamad International Airport, including services to Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.
A Launch After the Summer Postponement
The November opening comes more than three months after the route’s original July launch plan. Aviation Week reported ahead of the inauguration that the service had been postponed following the earthquake in Venezuela.
The airline’s latest announcement confirms that operations have now begun. For bookings, the November timetable is the relevant reference rather than the July dates still visible in some earlier promotional material.
LATAM Adds Connections Across Colombia
The long-haul launch coincides with a wider codeshare expansion with LATAM. Qatar Airways is adding its flight code to LATAM Colombia services from Bogotá to 17 domestic destinations, including Cartagena, Medellín, Cali, Santa Marta and San Andrés Island.
LATAM is also placing its code on the new Qatar Airways route. The arrangement extends the service’s reach beyond the capital: passengers heading to Colombia’s Caribbean coast or other regional cities can look for connecting itineraries through Bogotá rather than treating it as their final destination.
More International Options for Venezuela
The Doha service adds another international gateway for Venezuela alongside expansion from the United States. American Airlines has announced Miami–Barcelona flights from January 2027, extending its Venezuelan network beyond Caracas and Maracaibo.
Qatar’s two weekly departures make travel dates an important part of that comparison. Check both directions of the itinerary, including intermediate stops and the next available departure, before choosing connections or arranging a short stay.
