Key Notes

  • Mekong Mystique is scheduled to debut in September 2028 with space for 68 guests in 34 suites.
  • Uniworld’s first renderings show a two-level pool deck and interiors designed by Madame Diep Ngoc Le of Lotus Cruises.
  • The 15-day Vietnam and Cambodia programme combines a seven-night river cruise with hotel stays.

Uniworld has unveiled the first detailed renderings of Mekong Mystique, a 68-guest river ship scheduled to begin sailing in Vietnam and Cambodia in September 2028. The new vessel will join Mekong Jewel, giving the line a second ship on the Mekong.

The designs bring a two-level pool deck, ornate suites and a sweeping lobby staircase to a vessel inspired by 1930s French Indochine style. The images show the planned interiors and outdoor spaces; they are renderings of a ship still to make its debut.

A Garden-Style Pool Deck Above the Mekong

Madame Diep Ngoc Le of Lotus Cruises designed the ship, drawing on the region’s decorative traditions and her early work as a curtain seamstress in Saigon. Botanical patterns, dark wood and antique-style furniture run through the newly revealed spaces.

The sundeck is arranged over two levels, with a large pool below an upper terrace. Floral tiles cover the pool floor, while planting, decorative railings and scalloped awnings give the space the feel of a garden courtyard. Uniworld describes the two-story sundeck as a first for the brand.

Inside, the lobby centres on a broad staircase with curved iron railings. Suites have tall arched windows, while bathroom designs pair patterned wallpaper and hand-painted vanities with brass fittings and gilded mirrors.

Just 34 Suites, With Two Royal Suites at the Top

Uniworld’s ship specifications list 34 suites and 51 staff aboard the 262-foot vessel. Accommodation is split across five booking categories, with three published sizes:

  • Royal Suites: two suites measuring 889 square feet each.
  • Grand Suites: two suites measuring 657 square feet each.
  • Suites A, AB and B: 30 suites measuring 347 square feet each, divided between the three categories.

The size difference is substantial: each Royal Suite is more than twice the area of a 347-square-foot suite. The ship’s published gallery also includes a restaurant, lounge, spa and fitness centre.

A 15-Day Trip With Seven Nights on the River

Mekong Mystique is listed for the 2028 cruise-tour itinerary between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The 15-day programme combines seven nights aboard ship with hotel stays, rather than spending the entire fortnight on the river.

In the northbound version, guests begin with two nights in Ho Chi Minh City before transferring to My Tho to embark. The sailing takes in communities in the Mekong Delta and continues into Cambodia, with calls including Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham.

After disembarking, the journey continues overland to Siem Reap for three nights and visits to the Angkor temples, followed by a flight to Hanoi and two hotel nights. Uniworld also publishes the itinerary in the reverse direction.

The new ship forms part of Uniworld’s wider 2028 expansion, which we covered alongside its European additions. Clara and Helen are also planned for that year, bringing new capacity to a programme that spans European rivers and the Mekong.
