Royal Air Maroc Plans Free Starlink Wi-Fi on 41 Aircraft

Royal Air Maroc will begin installing Starlink on 41 aircraft in early 2027, with free Wi-Fi for members of its free-to-join Safar Flyer program.

Royal Air Maroc has selected Starlink to bring free high-speed Wi-Fi to 41 aircraft, with equipment installation due to begin in early 2027. Access will be available to members of Safar Flyer, the airline’s loyalty program, which is free to join.

The Moroccan carrier announced the partnership on October 7. For passengers, the promise is internet capable of handling messages, streaming and online work, without buying a separate Wi-Fi package once their aircraft is equipped.

When Royal Air Maroc’s Starlink Rollout Begins

The first installations are planned for early 2027, followed by a gradual rollout. That is a starting point for the project, rather than a promise that all 41 aircraft will have the service at the beginning of the year.

Royal Air Maroc has not published a detailed aircraft-by-aircraft timetable, the first routes to receive the connection or a completion deadline. Travelers should therefore avoid assuming that a booking for 2027 automatically includes Starlink, even if they have already joined Safar Flyer.

The distinction is particularly useful when comparing flights: the announced benefit depends on the aircraft operating the journey. Until the airline releases more specific availability information, treat the upgrade as an upcoming addition rather than a guaranteed feature of a particular departure.

Who Gets Free Wi-Fi

The free-access offer applies to Safar Flyer members. It is not presented as an elite-status benefit, and the airline’s registration page confirms that membership itself is free. Occasional travelers can therefore join without paying a subscription to the loyalty program.

For anyone planning to use the service, creating an account before travel and keeping the login details available is a sensible first step. Royal Air Maroc has not yet set out the onboard sign-in process or device limits, so the precise connection instructions will need to come from the airline closer to launch.

What Passengers Should Be Able to Do

The service is intended to support streaming, messaging and real-time work during the flight. Starlink has confirmed the partnership, describing the planned connection as high-speed and low-latency. The latter refers to the delay when data travels between a device and the network.

That makes the upgrade relevant beyond checking email. Watching a series or working with online documents could become more practical on equipped flights. However, Royal Air Maroc has not announced a guaranteed per-passenger speed, and a connectivity announcement should not be read as permission to make voice or video calls in the cabin.

Another Airline Moves Toward Free Connectivity

The announcement follows other airline projects linking faster satellite internet with free passenger access. We recently covered Lufthansa’s Starlink rollout, including installations at Austrian Airlines and SWISS, where free access is tied to eligible loyalty accounts or a Travel ID.

Our coverage of flydubai’s Wi-Fi plans also shows why installation dates matter: an airline can announce free connectivity while individual aircraft are still awaiting equipment. For Royal Air Maroc passengers, the two details to watch next are which flights become connected first and how Safar Flyer members will log in onboard.
