Walt Disney World is preparing to test a redesigned hotel-planning experience that combines flexible date searches, clearer pricing information and AI-powered resort recommendations. Developed with Google Cloud, the tools aim to help travelers compare accommodation options without repeatedly switching between dates, hotel pages and transportation information.

The Guided Search beta will initially reach selected guests in the United States and Canada. Disney has not announced a general rollout date. Participation in the AI features will be optional, with existing booking tools, travel advisors and Disney’s call center remaining available.

Flexible Dates and Personalized Resort Matches

A new pricing and availability calendar will let guests search by month or season, making it easier to compare potential stays before committing to exact dates. For travelers with flexibility, the practical benefit is seeing how a different arrival date could change room availability and cost.

Disney says results will surface the best available offers and rates alongside resorts that match the guest’s preferences. That improves visibility into the options presented, but it should not be interpreted as a guarantee of the lowest possible vacation price.

Guests will also be able to describe their plans in everyday language. A couple attending the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival could prioritize convenient park access, while a family celebrating a child’s birthday might ask for Lion King theming and a strong pool offering.

The system will use that context to suggest suitable properties and explain its reasoning. Disney’s demonstrations included recommendations for Art of Animation’s Lion King Family Suites and Animal Kingdom Lodge, illustrating how interests can influence the shortlist rather than leaving guests to interpret a long hotel directory.

Comparisons That Explain the Trade-Offs

Updated resort pages will add videos and contextual descriptions, while a map will show hotels in relation to the theme parks. A transportation section will outline available routes from each resort and approximate journey times, helping guests weigh location against amenities and price.

Side-by-side comparisons will cover differences in dining, transportation and facilities. Follow-up questions will retain information already shared about the trip, allowing guests to narrow their choices without starting again. A question about walking from Caribbean Beach Resort to EPCOT, for example, would explain the available transportation alternatives.

The hotel-search test is separate from changes to Lightning Lane and advance dining reservations, which are not part of this beta. It also arrives alongside other digital initiatives, including the planned MagicMobile upgrade for Apple Wallet, aimed at making trip information easier to access.

For first-time visitors, the potential value lies in understanding the trade-offs before booking: a preferred theme, pool or room layout may come with a different journey to the parks. The beta will test whether Disney can make those choices clearer while preserving familiar booking options for guests who prefer them.
