Railbookers is expanding its Southeast Asia portfolio with five locally guided vacations: four in Vietnam and one combining Laos and Thailand. Ranging from eight to 15 days, the trips bring together rail journeys, hotels, sightseeing and transfers while preserving time for independent exploration.
The company’s Locally Guided model uses destination experts at relevant stages of a trip, rather than one tour leader accompanying a group throughout. The Five New Southeast Asia Journeys
- Essential Vietnam: This eight-day introduction links Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City through a package incorporating two overnight sleeper-train journeys. Highlights include sightseeing in the capital, Hoi An’s UNESCO-listed Ancient Town and a Mekong Delta cruise.
- Classic Vietnam: The 11-day trip travels from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, with stops in Hue and Hoi An. It includes Halong Bay, the Hai Van Pass, Hue’s Imperial City, a cooking class and two overnight journeys on the Reunification Express.
- Best of Vietnam: This 15-day north-to-south journey adds a broader range of experiences, including an overnight Halong Bay cruise, Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge, a Saigon River dinner cruise, and visits to the Mekong Delta and Cai Rang Floating Market.
- Classic Vietnam and the Luxury Vietage Train: The 15-day premium option combines the country’s principal highlights with two journeys aboard The Vietage. A Halong Bay cruise, the Hai Van Pass and time along the coast complement the upgraded train experience.
- Laos and Thailand by Rail: This 15-day itinerary starts in Bangkok and visits Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang before continuing by river into northern Thailand and returning via Chiang Mai. It combines overnight trains, high-speed rail, private sightseeing and a two-day Mekong cruise.
The list makes the main choices clearer: a shorter introduction, a more extensive cultural route, a longer exploration, a premium rail option or a cross-border journey. The Vietage experience belongs to the named luxury package; it is not a feature shared by all five vacations.
Rail travel is also one component of these packages, with cruises and road transfers connecting experiences beyond the tracks. Travelers comparing an itinerary should therefore consider the full sequence of transport and sightseeing alongside the number of days.
