Etihad Unveils New A330 First Suites for September 2027 Debut
Etihad's Beyond Borders program introduces four First suites, 24 Business seats and a new Economy cabin on A330s entering service from September 2027.
Etihad Airways has unveiled new Airbus A330 interiors under its Beyond Borders program, with four First suites and 24 Business seats featuring closing doors. The aircraft is scheduled to enter service from September 2027, marking the next step in the airline’s effort to expand premium seating beyond its flagship long-haul fleet.
Presented at Arabian Travel Market, the three-cabin layout will support regional and medium-haul routes across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Etihad plans to add 15 A330s over five years, with each aircraft carrying 280 passengers across First, Business and Economy.
The First cabin will have four enclosed suites, each with room for a companion to dine or socialize. Features include a 32-inch screen, wireless charging, personal storage and a dedicated powder station stocked with amenities that guests can take away.
All 24 Business Class seats will face forward, convert into fully flat beds and offer direct aisle access. Sliding doors, 17.3-inch screens, charging options and large tables form part of the proposed product.
Economy will comprise 252 seats with fixed-wing headrests, personal charging and 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens. Within that total, 32 Extra Legroom seats will provide four additional inches of seat pitch, giving passengers another seating option without creating a separate cabin.
Beyond Borders extends further than the A330. Etihad intends to apply the design across new aircraft, refurbished cabins and premium spaces, linking lounges, dining, amenities, connectivity and ground services more closely. The visual approach draws on Abu Dhabi‘s landscapes and architecture, with shared details intended to make the journey feel more consistent.
The airline is also showing how the design will reach its A321LR, which already offers First suites and fully flat Business seats on a single-aisle aircraft. Chief Executive Antonoaldo Neves said customers have responded strongly to that product, although the announcement did not provide supporting booking figures.
Etihad puts its investment in new aircraft and customer experience at $20 billion, including a $1 billion fleet retrofit program. It plans to increase First seating across the fleet over the coming years, while retaining the A380’s First Apartments and The Residence as flagship offerings.
For travelers, the rollout promises more premium options on regional and medium-haul services. Availability will depend on aircraft deliveries, refurbishment schedules and route assignments; the newly displayed cabins are a preview of the September 2027 introduction.
