Virgin Voyages will enter Northern Europe for the first time in summer 2028, sending Valiant Lady to Amsterdam for a limited season of cruises through Scandinavia, the Baltics and the Norwegian fjords.
The program will run from July 9 through September 4, 2028, and include six sailings. Four will be newly created Northern Europe itineraries, while two 10-night Western Europe crossings will connect Barcelona and Amsterdam at the beginning and end of the season.
The first regional voyage will be a 12-night Scandinavia and Stockholm Overnight sailing departing Amsterdam on July 19. It will visit Oslo, Copenhagen, Gdańsk via Gdynia, Stockholm, Warnemünde and Aarhus. The Stockholm call includes an overnight stay, while Copenhagen is scheduled for a late departure, giving passengers more time ashore.
A seven-night Norwegian Fjords cruise follows on July 31, calling at Molde, Nordfjordeid, Flåm and Bergen. Virgin Voyages is positioning this itinerary as a quieter alternative to capital-heavy Northern Europe routes, with a stronger focus on landscapes, smaller ports and the region’s rail and fjord experiences.
The ship will then sail a seven-night Scandinavia and Hamburg itinerary beginning August 7. That cruise includes Oslo, Copenhagen and Hamburg, with late stays designed to give travelers more time for museums, dining and nightlife.
The headline voyage of the season is an 11-night Arctic Circle and Norwegian Fjords sailing departing August 14. Valiant Lady will cross the Arctic Circle and visit Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes and Olden. Virgin plans an Arctic Circle crossing ceremony and a midnight sun deck party during the voyage. Honningsvåg will serve as the gateway to North Cape, while Åndalsnes offers access to Trollstigen and the Rauma Railway.
The season introduces 15 maiden ports for Virgin Voyages, making the deployment one of the company’s most ambitious regional expansions. None of the Northern Europe itineraries has appeared in the cruise line’s previous schedule.
Virgin Voyages will also sell a Summer Pass allowing travelers to book all four Northern Europe cruises back to back. The offer is aimed at passengers seeking an extended regional journey without changing ships between itineraries.
Bookings will open first to Sailing Club members and travel advisors on August 13, 2026, with public sales beginning August 14. Early access offers include a limited Bar Tab promotion, while group bookings will be available with a deposit-free hold and price lock.
For Virgin Voyages, the Amsterdam season broadens its appeal beyond the Mediterranean and Caribbean. It also gives the adults-only brand a chance to compete for travelers seeking longer, destination-focused cruises through some of Europe’s most in-demand summer regions.
