Key Notes

  • WorldHotels becomes the portfolio brand for BWH Hotels, while Best Western remains in the network.
  • Best Western Rewards and WorldHotels Rewards will merge on January 5, 2027, with approximately 70 million members.
  • Members’ existing points value will be retained, with further program details due November 16, 2026.

Best Western’s parent company is adopting the WorldHotels name, bringing its global portfolio of 18 hotel brands under a more visible umbrella. The change also sets up a unified WorldHotels Rewards program, due to launch on January 5, 2027, for approximately 70 million existing members.

BWH Hotels announced the transformation on October 27. For travelers, the distinction is straightforward: WorldHotels becomes the overarching portfolio brand, while familiar hotel names such as Best Western and Best Western Plus remain part of the network.

Best Western Stays, but Its Parent Gets a New Identity

The company’s brand announcement says WorldHotels now connects more than 4,000 hotels across over 100 countries. It spans everything from economy and extended-stay properties to boutique and luxury hotels, a range the company believes many guests do not associate with the Best Western name alone.

Individual property identities and signage will remain, according to the company. A Best Western booking therefore does not become a booking at a newly renamed luxury hotel simply because the parent brand has changed.

There is also a naming distinction within the new structure. WorldHotels is the overall portfolio brand; WorldHotels Collection is the upscale and luxury collection within it. The latter will comprise six categories: Luxury, Elite, Distinctive, Crafted, Backdrop and Residences.

Rewards Programs Merge on January 5

Best Western Rewards and the existing WorldHotels Rewards will combine into one program. The company release confirms three membership tiers, with further details scheduled for November 16, 2026.

WorldHotels says members will retain the value of their existing points, points will continue not to expire, and benefits such as member rates and status matching will remain. Those commitments provide continuity, but travelers should still review the full tier and benefit rules when they are published.

The company’s member guidance says the transition will happen automatically. Existing membership numbers, balances and status will move with members, and upcoming reservations are listed among the things staying the same. There is no requirement to open a replacement account to make the transition happen.

For a planned stay, compare the room rate, cancellation terms and eligible benefits for the actual hotel and travel dates. The new parent name alone does not tell you whether a particular booking offers better value.

A Broader Booking Platform and a Clearer Hotel Map

The transformation includes a new website and redesigned app experience, with a discovery platform drawing on more than 10,000 hours of input from hotel teams. The aim is to make local recommendations and hotels across the wider portfolio easier to find, alongside booking and loyalty-account functions.

The practical dates for members are November 16 for further program details and January 5 for the unified program’s launch. Until the new rules are available, specific assumptions about qualification thresholds or future redemption prices would go beyond what has been announced.

We have also covered Hilton’s points payments, another change in how hotel groups connect loyalty accounts with their digital services. For Best Western members, the immediate task is simpler: watch for the transition details and keep using the account the company says will move with you.
