A restored palace on the Estoril coast, an art-filled Lisbon address and a villa resort in the Algarve are among the Portuguese winners at the World Travel Awards 2026. Together with two company titles, their results give independent hotel manager Amazing Evolution five European awards.
The tally spans three quite different ways to stay in Portugal: a city break, an intimate coastal retreat and a family-friendly villa holiday. Amazing Evolution received the operator and management honours, while the individual hotels won in their own categories.

The European results recognise both the business running the properties and the character of the hotels themselves:

The award organizer’s award history record shows Amazing Evolution has held the boutique operator title every year from 2018 through 2026. Its management win also extends a run stretching back to 2022.
Founder and chief executive Margarida Almeida credited the teams behind the results and stressed an approach that preserves each hotel’s identity and its connection to the destination. That distinction matters for guests: the properties share a management company, rather than a single uniform hotel concept.
Three Different Portuguese Escapes
For an urban stay, 1908 Lisboa Hotel combines contemporary interiors and artwork with a restored Art Nouveau building in Lisbon’s Intendente neighbourhood. Its Infame restaurant and bar give guests an on-site dining option, while the surrounding streets offer independent cafés and a varied local food scene.
On the coast, Estoril Vintage occupies a 1920s palace overlooking the Atlantic. With just 15 rooms, the property offers a much smaller setting than a conventional resort. Its appeal centres on period architecture, sea views and a location near the beaches and promenades of the Estoril coast.
White Shell offers a different proposition in Porches, in the Algarve. The four-star resort has 55 villas with one to three bedrooms, making it an option for families and friends who want more space. It also welcomes pets and has a spa, pools and landscaped outdoor areas.
What the Results Mean for a Portugal Trip
The winners provide a useful shortlist for travellers choosing between Lisbon, the Estoril coast and the Algarve. The deciding factors remain the kind of trip, the room configuration and the location: the three award-winning properties serve different needs.
