TravelWits Is Adding Travelport to Take Its Booking Platform Beyond Sabre
TravelWits is integrating its booking platform with Travelport, opening the technology to more travel agencies and supporting its international expansion.
TravelWits is preparing to integrate its booking technology with Travelport, giving agencies connected to the global distribution system another way to search, organize and sell travel without relying directly on a traditional GDS interface.
The booking platform has worked with Sabre since 2015, but demand from Travelport agencies pushed the company to broaden its distribution connections. TravelWits CEO Arman Bimatov said the integration has taken nearly a year and is now approaching the early testing stage.
TravelWits plans to begin working with a small group of Travelport-connected agencies over the next several months. These early adopters will test the technology in real operating environments before a wider rollout.
The timing of the full launch will depend partly on how smoothly that process goes. Agency technology stacks can be complicated, particularly when booking tools must connect with existing mid-office and back-office systems responsible for quality control, accounting, reporting and customer management.
Bimatov said TravelWits is aiming for a full launch during the first quarter of 2027. That schedule could change if beta testing identifies issues or if individual agency integrations require additional development.
The partnership is important for TravelWits because the company has recently begun working with agencies outside the United States. Adding another major GDS connection expands the number of potential partners and reduces its dependence on agencies operating through Sabre.
TravelWits plans to approach international growth gradually. Rather than entering a new country with a standardized product, the company intends to find an established agency partner, study the market through that relationship and then expand to additional customers.
That method reflects the differences between travel markets. Agencies in different countries may use separate payment systems, supplier relationships, reporting processes and regulatory procedures. Working with an initial local partner can help TravelWits adapt its platform before pursuing broader adoption.
The integration could also support Travelport’s efforts to reach travel sellers who do not want to work directly inside a conventional GDS. Although global distribution systems remain central to agency air bookings, their professional interfaces can require specialized training and may feel less accessible to newer or independent advisors.
TravelWits offers a more consumer-style booking experience while retaining access to agency content and workflows behind the scenes. That may allow Travelport-connected businesses to recruit a wider variety of advisors without requiring every user to become an expert in traditional GDS commands.
For agencies, the value of the integration will depend on more than the booking interface. Reliable synchronization with existing technology, accurate content and efficient servicing will determine whether TravelWits can become part of daily operations.
If the rollout succeeds, the Travelport connection could give TravelWits a larger international customer base while helping agencies modernize their booking experience without replacing the distribution infrastructure underneath it.
