Pet Jet Travel Puts Passenger and Pet Bookings in One Place
Pet Jet Travel combines flight search and pet arrangements, using AI checks and airline confirmation to help owners book trips with dogs and cats.
Key Notes
- Pet Jet Travel combines passenger flight searches with arrangements for cabin pets, animals in the hold and recognized assistance dogs.
- Its system checks pet details and carrier dimensions, while hold and assistance-dog bookings require requests handled with airlines.
- A suitable search result is not a confirmed pet place, and the operating airline retains final acceptance authority.
Pet Jet Travel is bringing passenger tickets and pet-travel arrangements into one online service, aiming to remove a familiar frustration for owners: buying a flight, then separately checking whether their dog or cat can come too. The Barcelona-based agency combines flight search with checks on the animal, its carrier and the airline’s rules.
The service covers scheduled commercial flights. Its booking process includes a separate airline-confirmation step for the pet, so a suitable search result should not be mistaken for a confirmed place on board.
How Booking With a Pet Works
Travelers enter their route, dates and pet details, including species, breed, weight and carrier dimensions. The system checks those details against published airline and country requirements, then filters the flight options it can offer.
Pet Jet Travel’s booking guidance distinguishes three types of request:
- Cabin pets: Small dogs or cats traveling in an approved carrier, subject to the airline’s acceptance and available pet space.
- Hold travel: Animals traveling as checked live animals in the aircraft hold. These bookings require a request rather than a self-service purchase.
- Recognized assistance dogs: Requests handled through the airline, with the relevant training documentation checked before approval.
For cabin bookings, the company says it confirms the pet with the airline before issuing the passenger ticket and capturing the card hold. That sequence is designed to keep the traveler’s ticket and the animal’s arrangements connected.
AI Checks, With Airline Approval Still Required
The platform uses AI agents to review pet documents, weight and carrier or crate dimensions before requests reach an airline, according to the launch announcement. The company has completed an end-to-end pet-booking test in its own test environment and plans to add carriers as more airlines make pet services available through modern distribution systems.
The practical limit is the airline’s own policy. A flight may have passenger seats for sale while its pet allowance is already full, and an animal’s eligibility can change with the route, aircraft or carrier requirements. Owners still need the documents required for their destination.
A Specialist Approach to Travel Booking
Pet Jet Travel announced its IATA accreditation on October 22. It sells tickets on behalf of operating airlines; the accreditation does not override those airlines’ pet-acceptance rules.
The service adds a specialist use for AI alongside the broader booking assistants we have covered at Booking Holdings. Here, the task is narrower: match a passenger and animal to a workable flight, then manage the checks and requests needed to complete the reservation.
