Norwegian Cruise Line’s Great Tides Waterpark Opens With 19 Slides and Caribbean Cliff Jumps
Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed Great Tides Waterpark, a six-acre attraction with 19 slides opening on Great Stirrup Cay in September.
Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed the first images of Great Tides Waterpark, a nearly six-acre attraction opening on Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas on September 4, 2026.
The new waterpark will add 19 waterslides, a family splash zone, cliff jumps, a winding river, new restaurants and private cabanas to the cruise line’s 270-acre private island. Day passes are already on sale for voyages calling at Great Stirrup Cay from September onward.
Tidal Tower will serve as the park’s main slide complex. Its attractions include Breakwater Blasters, two dueling Master Blaster slides that use high-pressure water jets to push riders uphill before sending them through drops and turns. The Great Slide will offer a four-person body-slide experience, while Cliffside Cove will feature jumps from heights of approximately 10 to 15 feet.
The Wandering River is designed as more than a traditional lazy river. Guests will pass through an illuminated immersive tunnel, while the Floataway Bar will let adults order drinks without leaving the water. Splash Cay will provide a separate area for younger visitors, with smaller slides and overhead water features.
Norwegian is also expanding the island’s food options. Low Tide Smoke will focus on barbecue dishes including pork riblets, nachos and chicken wings. Catch of the Cay will serve shrimp rolls, fried seafood baskets and chilled seafood, while Tidal Treats will offer sundaes and soft serve in bubble waffle cones. Complimentary buffet-style dining will also be available, although some food-truck items will cost extra.
Admission prices will vary by sailing date and availability. A standard day pass includes access to the park, lockers, towels, selected food and tram transportation. Private cabanas for groups of up to six people will include waterpark admission and shaded seating.
The wider island is also being upgraded. A new two-berth pier is now open, replacing the need for many guests to reach shore by tender and potentially giving passengers more time at the destination. Other premium options include the adults-only Vibe Shore Club and Silver Cove, which has private villas, a beach, an infinity pool, a restaurant and spa treatments.
The official opening will take place during Norwegian Luna’s seven-night Caribbean cruise departing Miami on August 29. That sailing is scheduled to reach Great Stirrup Cay on September 4 for the opening celebration.
Great Tides reflects a wider cruise industry shift toward private destinations that operate as major attractions rather than simple beach stops. By adding slides, bars, restaurants and premium spaces, Norwegian is turning Great Stirrup Cay into an experience designed to compete with the onboard attractions of its newest ships.
