Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is preparing one of its biggest expansions yet, with three Harry Potter-themed lands scheduled for completion in 2029. Miral and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences have confirmed that Diagon Alley, Hogwarts and the Forbidden Forest will together span about 63,000 square meters at the indoor theme park on Yas Island.
The project will introduce the first Harry Potter-themed worlds at a theme park in the United Arab Emirates. Each land will be designed as a distinct environment rather than a single combined zone.
Diagon Alley will recreate the wizarding shopping street known for its crooked storefronts and magical businesses. Hogwarts will center on the castle and school setting, while the Forbidden Forest will focus on the darker woodland environment and the creatures associated with it.
Miral has also confirmed that the expansion will feature Harry Potter rides created exclusively for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. Specific attractions have not yet been revealed, but the companies say more details will be announced as development progresses.
A Major Expansion for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi
The Harry Potter lands form part of a broader expansion that will significantly increase the scale of the park. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi currently has six themed lands, and the new Harry Potter areas will be joined by two previously announced DC attractions, Kryptonite Collider and Superman Up and Away.
Together, the additions will increase the park’s total size by more than 50%, adding around 70,000 square meters of new theme park space. Superman Up and Away, a flying coaster, is expected to be completed in 2028, ahead of the Harry Potter expansion.
The Harry Potter project was first announced in 2022, but the 2029 construction target provides the clearest timetable yet. Warner Bros. World has already introduced a smaller taste of the franchise inside the park, with a Harry Potter-themed retail experience selling wands, clothing and Hogwarts house merchandise.
Why Harry Potter Matters for Yas Island
For Abu Dhabi, the expansion is about more than adding another set of rides. Miral has positioned the project as part of Yas Island’s strategy to strengthen its appeal as an international leisure destination through globally recognized entertainment brands.
Yas Island already combines theme parks, hotels, shopping and motorsport, while plans for Disneyland Abu Dhabi on Yas Island are set to add another major global entertainment brand to the destination. The Harry Potter expansion gives the island another franchise capable of drawing international fans and encouraging longer stays.
The scale of the project also signals Abu Dhabi’s investment in immersive entertainment. Rather than adding a single Harry Potter ride or compact area, Warner Bros. World is building three separate lands with exclusive attractions and a substantial physical footprint.
The indoor setting could also give the experience a distinctive position compared with other Harry Potter attractions, particularly in a destination where climate-controlled entertainment supports year-round tourism.
An exact opening date has not yet been announced, and completion of construction in 2029 does not necessarily mean the lands will begin welcoming visitors immediately. Still, the newly confirmed timeline gives travelers and theme park fans a clearer sense of when the project is expected to become reality.
Once complete, the expansion will transform Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi from a six-land indoor park into a significantly larger entertainment destination, with Harry Potter becoming one of its central attractions.
