ANA Adds Flight Booking and WeChat Pay Inside WeChat
ANA customers in China can now book flights, pay with WeChat Pay and manage tickets inside WeChat. Online check-in and flight-status features are planned.
Key Notes
- ANA customers in China can search, book, pay and manage tickets within WeChat.
- WeChat Pay is available for ticket purchases and changes through the Mini-Program.
- Online check-in and dedicated flight-status functions are planned rather than available at launch.
All Nippon Airways has launched flight booking and payment inside WeChat, giving customers in China a way to buy and manage ANA tickets without installing a separate airline app. The ANA WeChat Mini-Program brings seat searches, reservations and ticket purchases into the messaging platform.
WeChat Pay is part of the launch. ANA says the payment method was previously unavailable through its website or apps; passengers can now use it for ticket purchases and changes through the new channel.
What Travelers Can Do in WeChat
ANA’s official announcement says users can check real-time seat availability, reserve flights, purchase tickets, and handle changes or refunds within the Mini-Program. The service uses the airline distribution standard NDC to connect those functions to ANA’s offers.
For travelers already using WeChat, the practical attraction is keeping more of the booking process in one familiar application. It is a new access point for ANA services, rather than an announcement of new flight routes or a separate fare promotion.
How to Find the ANA Mini-Program
Search for ANA or 全日空 within WeChat, or use the QR code in the airline’s announcement. ANA notes that the first load may take different amounts of time depending on the device and location.
The airline also maintains an official WeChat account for Chinese-language information. Travelers should distinguish that account’s updates from the Mini-Program’s booking functions and use ANA’s own links or QR codes to reach the intended service.
The Mini-Program delivers booking confirmations, ticket-issuance alerts and schedule-change notifications through WeChat. After making a purchase, keep the reservation details and ticket confirmation available rather than treating a search result or payment screen as the complete travel record.
Online Check-In Is Still Planned
ANA lists flight-status information and online check-in as future additions. Its launch announcement does not give a date for those functions, so travelers should not assume the Mini-Program already handles every stage between shopping and boarding.
For an upcoming trip, confirm the fare’s baggage allowance, change conditions and refund rules before paying. A new booking interface can simplify access, but the ticket conditions still determine what happens if plans change.
We have also looked at new flight-search technology that supports emerging travel interfaces. ANA’s WeChat launch is a more immediate example: booking and payment are available now, while additional journey-management features remain on the roadmap.
