Finland is inviting 16 international singles on hosted four-day food trips, with a group blind dinner date as the main event. Visit Finland’s Finnish Dinner Date campaign will bring two groups to Helsinki and Tampere in February 2027, combining regional tasting menus with the chance to meet fellow travelers and local Finns.

Applications are open until November 10, 2026, at 11:59 a.m. Finnish time, or 09:59 UTC. The deadline falls just before noon. Selected participants will travel during the February 9–19 window, with eight international guests assigned to each experience.

A Dinner Date in Helsinki or Tampere

The campaign announcement puts Finnish food at the center of the experience. Helsinki’s menu is being created by Adele Kinnunen, head chef at Café Savoy, while the Lakeland menu comes from Gösta restaurateur Henry Tikkanen, a former Finnish representative at Bocuse d’Or.

Each group will share its dinner with two local Finnish singles. The wider itinerary includes activities and meals, giving participants time to experience the region beyond one restaurant table. The destination assigned to each selected guest will be revealed when participation is confirmed.

The idea grew out of Finland’s pink sinkkukori shopping baskets, which let grocery shoppers signal that they are single and open to meeting someone. The campaign takes that playful approach into a hosted group setting, with seasonal Finnish ingredients and regional traditions providing the conversation starter.

How to Apply Before November 10

There are two steps to the application process. First, make a video in English explaining what you would serve on a dinner date and why. Share it on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, use #FinnishDinnerDate, and tag the relevant Visit Finland account: @ourfinland on Instagram, @visitfinland.com on TikTok or @VisitFinland on YouTube.

Then complete the online form and include the video link. Instagram and TikTok entries must be publicly visible; a YouTube video can be unlisted. One individual application covers both destinations, and the organizers decide which experience each selected guest attends.

The jury will assess creativity, authenticity and uniqueness. Applicants must create their own material, with AI-generated application content prohibited by the campaign rules. Successful applicants will be contacted personally, and the public announcement is scheduled for December 1 on Visit Finland’s Instagram and TikTok channels.

Who Can Join and What Is Covered?

The official terms require applicants to be at least 18, single, and neither Finnish citizens nor residents of Finland. Additional eligibility restrictions apply, including applicable sanctions and restrictions involving the campaign’s social platforms. Applications are individual, so this is not an invitation to bring a partner or friend.

Visit Finland will arrange travel between an international airport near the selected traveler’s hometown and Helsinki, plus meals and accommodation with a private room. Participants must arrange their own travel documents and adequate insurance, and may be responsible for applicable taxes. Guests receive no separate cash payment for participating.

The hosted visit is also a tourism marketing campaign: participants agree to take part in the program and may be photographed or filmed. Organizers do not promise a romantic match. The appeal is a shared food-focused winter experience, with meeting someone a possible bonus.
