Villa Vie Legacy Will Launch in 2029 With Bigger Residences and Lifetime Access to Two Cruise Ships

Villa Vie Residences plans to launch a second residential cruise ship, Legacy, in early 2029, expanding its floating-home model after selling more than 85% of the residences aboard its first vessel, Odyssey.

Legacy is expected to offer residences around 50% larger than comparable accommodations on Odyssey. The ship will also feature expanded dining venues, larger public areas, enhanced wellness facilities and additional premium amenities designed around long-term life at sea.

The extra space will come at a higher cost. Villa Vie expects ownership prices and monthly maintenance charges on Legacy to average approximately 30% more than those aboard Odyssey. Full pricing, cabin designs, amenities and itineraries are expected to be revealed during Odyssey’s two-year anniversary celebration at the end of September.

Villa Vie has not yet disclosed which existing ship will be acquired and converted into Legacy. Odyssey was formerly Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Braemar before being transformed into a residential vessel and beginning continuous world voyages in September 2024.

One of the biggest changes is the expansion of Villa Vie’s Endless Horizons lifetime residency program. Participants make a one-time payment in exchange for permanent residency rights, and those rights will now apply across both Odyssey and Legacy rather than being tied to a single ship.

Pricing for Endless Horizons starts at $349,999, with no monthly fees. The program guarantees access to a cabin, although participants do not own the residence and therefore cannot renovate or rent it out.

Villa Vie is also introducing the Legacy Bridge Program for buyers who want access to the new ship but do not want to wait until 2029 to begin sailing. The first 24 qualifying buyers who purchase an Odyssey residence before the end of September will be able to move aboard immediately and later transfer to a comparable residence on Legacy.

Those buyers will retain Odyssey-level maintenance rates after transferring, potentially shielding them from the higher operating costs expected on the newer ship. The offer creates a direct path from the current vessel to the expanded 2029 product.

Odyssey has approximately 650 residences and offers several ways to participate in residential cruising. Options include permanent ownership, five-year residency, cabin-use rights, traditional rentals and a rent-to-own program.

The announcement comes as residential cruising attracts more competition and investment. Avora Residences, a luxury sister brand from the same parent group, is preparing to launch Lumina in 2028 following the conversion of the former Seven Seas Navigator.

For Villa Vie, Legacy represents an effort to turn a single-ship experiment into a broader residential cruise network. The appeal is not simply a larger cabin. It is the possibility of treating multiple ships as one long-term home while traveling continuously around the world.
