Norwegian Cruise Line has opened bookings for Norwegian Bella, the sixth and final ship in its Prima class. The new vessel will begin seven-day round-trip Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona in May 2028, giving travelers a European departure point for the line’s next generation of ships.
The 170,000-gross-ton ship will accommodate 3,921 guests at double occupancy and join Norwegian Aura as the largest vessels in NCL’s fleet. Both ships are under construction at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.
A Mediterranean Debut From Barcelona
NCL’s announcement identifies Marseille, Palma de Mallorca and Salerno among the inaugural-season destinations, alongside calls serving Rome and Florence. Bookings opened on October 20.
Starting and finishing in the same city makes Barcelona a straightforward base for combining a cruise with time ashore. The individual sailing still matters: compare the port sequence and time in each destination before deciding how much of a city visit can fit around the cruise.
We previously covered Norwegian Aura, which is due to debut in 2027. Bella will bring similar onboard experiences to the Mediterranean, while Aura’s program centers on the Caribbean. For travelers choosing between them, the destinations are as important as the shared ship design.
Outdoor Spaces for Different Kinds of Sea Day
Ocean Heights will be a multi-level, open-air activity complex with waterslides, a ropes course and spaces for games and socializing. Bella will also have The Drop, the Prima-class dry slide that descends 10 decks.
The ship’s outdoor spaces extend beyond the main activity area. Ocean Boulevard wraps around the ship with open-air dining, bars and Infinity Beach, offering several places to spend time outside without gathering around the same pool.
Family areas include Little Explorers’ Cay for ages two to six, Adventure Alley for ages six to 10 and Surf’s Bay for teenagers. The Kids’ Aqua Park adds water-play features, while The Party Slide is designed for families and friends to ride together.
Adults will also have Vibe Beach Club, with loungers, a bar and hot tubs. Horizon Park offers another outdoor option, with ocean views and lawn games. That variety is useful for groups whose ideal afternoon ranges from slides and play areas to a seat by the water.
Cabins, Haven Suites and a Colorful Hull
Accommodation will range from studios and inside cabins to balcony rooms. The ship will include 159 suites in The Haven, NCL’s keycard-access retreat, with its own restaurant, lounge, pool facilities and butler and concierge services.
The ship preview also introduces hull artwork by Australian muralist George Rose. Her botanical-inspired forms and vivid colors give Bella a distinct identity within the Prima family.
For a family or a group booking, the useful comparison is the room arrangement and the spaces included with it. A studio, a balcony cabin and a Haven suite offer different ways to use the same ship, so the category should reflect how the party plans to spend its time.
The launch gives travelers a new option for summer 2028, with the European itinerary already open for sale. Compare available departure dates, cabin availability and the inclusions attached to the selected fare through NCL’s sailing search before matching the cruise with flights or a Barcelona hotel stay.
