Key Notes

  • Seattle–Osaka flights begin May 14, 2027, operating four times a week year-round.
  • Seattle–Papeete service starts June 11, 2027, with three weekly flights and onward island connections.
  • Limited introductory round-trip fares start at $999 for Tahiti and $1,199 for Osaka, subject to availability.

Hawaiian Airlines will launch nonstop flights from Seattle to Osaka and Tahiti in 2027, adding two year-round Pacific routes to Alaska Air Group’s expanding international network. Osaka service begins May 14, followed by flights to Papeete on June 11, with introductory round-trip fares starting at $1,199 and $999 respectively.

Tickets are on sale through Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, with the launch-fare promotion running through October 26, subject to availability. The routes remain subject to government approval. Hawaiian will operate both services with Airbus A330-200 aircraft, bringing its brand to two more long-haul markets from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Osaka Flights Begin in May

The Seattle–Osaka Kansai service will operate four times a week, with departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Seattle’s airport announcement lists a 12:10 p.m. departure and a 4 p.m. arrival in Osaka the following day. Return flights begin May 15 and are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The route gives Pacific Northwest travelers a direct arrival point in the Kansai region, which includes Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Kobe. For a Japan itinerary focused on those cities, flying into Kansai can remove the need to start in Tokyo and arrange a separate onward journey.

Hawaiian’s existing Honolulu–Osaka service will continue. Travelers will therefore have a choice between the new Seattle nonstop and an itinerary through Hawaii, rather than the Seattle launch replacing the airline’s established Japan connection.

Tahiti Gets Three Weekly Seattle Departures

Papeete flights are scheduled to leave Seattle on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, departing at 11:55 p.m. and arriving at 7:20 a.m. the next day. Return service starts June 12, operating on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. All published times are local, and schedules can change before launch.

The route announcement highlights same-day onward connections from Papeete to Bora Bora and Moorea. Those island connections are particularly useful for travelers aiming to reach a resort without adding an overnight stop on Tahiti, although the onward leg remains a separate part of the itinerary to check when booking.

Hawaiian will also retain its Honolulu–Papeete service. The Seattle route adds another mainland gateway into French Polynesia, while the wider Alaska network allows travelers from other American cities to connect through Seattle.

A330 Cabins at Launch, With a Later Refresh

Both routes will offer lie-flat business-class seating and Starlink Wi-Fi, complimentary for Atmos Rewards members. The airline says business-class passengers traveling through Seattle will also receive Alaska Lounge access, alongside dedicated check-in and its premium onboard dining service.

The new routes arrive before Hawaiian’s A330 interior overhaul, which is due to begin in 2028. As we explained in our coverage of the airlines’ cabin upgrades, that investment is a separate development; travelers booking these 2027 launches should check the seating shown for their specific flight.

For trip planning, the most consequential change is the new nonstop choice. Both destinations will be served several days a week rather than daily, so matching the outbound and return operating days is an early step in building the holiday. The advertised launch fares are limited offers, with the final price dependent on available travel dates and seats.
