Hyderabad is set to get its first Crowne Plaza hotel, with IHG Hotels & Resorts signing a management agreement for a 250-room property in Shamshabad. Crowne Plaza Hyderabad Shamshabad Airport Road is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031, adding a premium hotel aimed at airport passengers, business travelers and meetings.
The agreement is with AR Infra Consultancy. IHG’s signing announcement places the planned hotel beside Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and the upcoming World Trade Centre, positioning it within the airport area’s expanding commercial district.
250 Rooms and a Substantial Meetings Offering
The room inventory will include 37 suites. Plans call for five food and beverage venues: an all-day restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar, a pool bar and a lobby lounge. A club lounge, swimming pool, fitness center and spa are also included in the announced facilities.
Meetings are a significant part of the project. The hotel is planned with 1,170 square meters of event space across five venues, including an 800-square-meter ballroom. That would give the property a role beyond overnight airport stays, with facilities for conferences, corporate gatherings and larger events.
For companies considering future events in Hyderabad, these are development specifications. The announcement does not provide event capacities, room rates or a booking launch date, and the opening remains several years away.
An Airport Hotel With a Wider Business Market
IHG is targeting a mix of airport transit, corporate, long-stay and project-related guests. The company points to Shamshabad’s surrounding aerospace, industrial and logistics developments as potential sources of demand, alongside the planned World Trade Centre.
Sudeep Jain, IHG’s managing director for South West Asia, linked the signing to the location’s airport access and developing commercial infrastructure. For AR Infra Consultancy, the hotel represents a first move into hospitality, building on its real estate and infrastructure experience in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The project will introduce Crowne Plaza to Hyderabad rather than bring IHG to the city for the first time. The group says its existing local portfolio includes two operating Holiday Inn Express hotels, with an InterContinental also under development.
Part of IHG’s Longer-Term India Expansion
The signing fits the company’s broader India growth plans. In January, IHG set an ambition to reach more than 400 open and in-development hotels in the country within five years. That target combines operating properties and future projects; it is not a promise of 400 hotels accepting guests within that period.
We previously covered IHG’s Vignette Collection plans in India. Crowne Plaza serves a different part of the portfolio: IHG classifies it among its premium brands, with a focus on stays that combine professional and personal travel.
For Hyderabad, the next milestones will be construction progress and firmer opening and reservation details. The current target is January–March 2031, so travelers arranging a stay before then should use operating hotels rather than treat this signing as a new option already available to book.
