Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Delta Air Lines are forming a long-term global loyalty partnership that will allow eligible elite members to earn rewards across both flights and hotel stays. The collaboration will connect World of Hyatt with Delta SkyMiles, extending each program beyond its traditional travel category as hospitality and aviation companies compete for a larger share of premium customers’ spending.

When the partnership launches in the coming months, eligible World of Hyatt elite members will be able to earn Hyatt points on qualifying Delta airfare purchases in qualifying fare classes. Delta SkyMiles Medallion members will be eligible to earn miles on qualifying stays at participating Hyatt properties. That dual-earning structure is the first benefit confirmed, while enrollment rules, eligible tiers, earning rates and other details have not yet been announced.

Hyatt said more benefits and exclusive experiences will be unveiled later in 2026. The companies are positioning the arrangement as a way to create a more connected journey from air travel through accommodation, with both brands emphasizing premium service. For travelers, however, the eventual value will depend on which status levels qualify, how broadly participating properties and fares are defined, and whether the earning rates are meaningful enough to influence booking decisions.

The announcement came as Hyatt and American Airlines confirmed that they will end their enhanced loyalty relationship. As outlined in TravelCapybara’s coverage of the Hyatt-American Airlines split, members who link their accounts by November 15 can preserve access to certain rewards through the current earning periods. AAdvantage members may continue earning Hyatt awards through Loyalty Point Rewards until February 28, 2027, while World of Hyatt members can earn AAdvantage awards through Milestone Rewards until December 31, 2026.

The switch also signals how a hotel loyalty program can become a broader travel platform rather than functioning only as a system for rewarding stays. Airlines and hotel groups increasingly use cross-brand partnerships to give high-value customers more reasons to remain inside connected loyalty ecosystems. A similar strategy underpins the expanding JetBlue-United Blue Sky partnership, which links benefits across two carriers.

For Hyatt, Delta offers a large global airline network and a base of status-conscious travelers who may be steered toward its hotels. Delta gains another hospitality relationship at a time when premium travel is central to its commercial strategy. The partnership’s scope remains deliberately limited for now, but the promise of earning two currencies on one trip could make it a significant loyalty shift once the final terms are released.
