Key Notes

  • CLIA’s 2027 Expedition Showcase takes place in Longyearbyen from July 2–6, with applications opening November 5.
  • Seven ships are planned for hosted visits across seven expedition cruise operators.
  • The package includes Oslo–Longyearbyen return flights, transfers and four hotel nights, with travel to Oslo arranged separately.

CLIA’s 2027 Expedition Showcase will return to Longyearbyen, Svalbard, from July 2–6 with a record seven ships available for hosted visits. Applications open on November 5, 2026, giving travel advisors a chance to join a program combining ship inspections, destination learning and expedition-cruise training.

The Cruise Lines International Association confirmed the details on October 28. This will be the third showcase, following two earlier editions in Svalbard, a major starting point for Arctic expedition sailings.

Seven Ships Across the Expedition Line-Up

Hosted visits are planned with the following operators:

  • 66 Expeditions
  • AE Expeditions
  • HX Expeditions
  • Polar Latitudes Expeditions
  • Ponant
  • Quark Expeditions
  • Swan Hellenic

CLIA says ships from 66 Expeditions and HX Expeditions are new to the Svalbard line-up. Its announcement names the participating operators, but does not identify the individual vessels. Delegates should look to the final program for the ship-by-ship schedule.

What the Event Package Includes

The arranged package covers return SAS Scandinavian Airlines flights between Oslo and Longyearbyen, airport transfers and four nights’ accommodation with breakfast. Delegates must organize their own journeys to and from Oslo.

That split is worth checking before arranging travel. Advisors will need to match their home-airport flights with the event’s Oslo departure and return, and account for any additional overnight stay their chosen connections require. CLIA’s announcement does not specify a package price or an application closing date.

Learning the Product Beyond the Brochure

Business sessions, product training and selected dinners will accompany the ship visits. For advisors, the practical opportunity is to compare several expedition products in one destination, ask operators detailed questions and build a clearer view of which experiences suit different clients.

Useful comparisons extend beyond cabin design. Advisors can ask about shore programs, expedition teams, inclusions and how a typical day is organized, then connect those details with a traveler’s interests and expectations. The showcase offers a setting for those conversations; the final agenda will establish what each hosted visit includes.

The announcement also follows CLIA’s expedition webinars, running October 26–30. That series covers advisors new to the sector alongside destination sessions on Antarctica and South America, the Arctic, Australia and the South Pacific, and the Galapagos.

How Advisors Can Apply

Applications will open through CLIA’s trade portal on November 5. Interested advisors should review the application requirements, costs and final travel arrangements there once the process opens. The event is a professional learning opportunity rather than a consumer cruise departure.

For broader product context, we have covered HX’s electric boats and Ponant’s Antarctica plans. The Svalbard showcase will give participating advisors a different perspective: time with operators and ships before recommending an expedition to clients.
