InteleTravel has acquired group travel startup 40Hammocks through its parent company, INTRAVEL, with plans to develop the technology into a platform called Groupr. The company’s announcement positions the deal as an expansion into smaller-group bookings, including destination weddings, meetings and events.

The existing 40Hammocks service helps organisers arrange hotel blocks of at least 10 rooms, with negotiated rates, individual booking links, room tracking and guest benefits. It also supports event-space arrangements. The technology remains operational while development continues, so the acquisition does not mean planners must wait for the new brand to use the current service.

A full-featured Groupr relaunch is planned for early 2027. Its preview site separately advertises a November 2026 beta, with hotel, venue, restaurant and experience sourcing brought into one workflow. Proposed tools cover supplier requests, bid comparisons, client proposals and contracts, aiming to reduce coordination across emails and spreadsheets.

Groupr is being developed for InteleTravel’s 145,000 advisors and the wider market of meeting planners, wedding specialists and other travel advisors. Integration with the group’s leisure and business travel platforms is planned. Co-founders Mina Singson-Brightman and Sebastian Borys remain involved as board members and partners, alongside the team moving into Groupr.

The acquisition adds booking automation to a broader effort to improve agency workflows. We recently covered Just You and Travelsphere’s agent marketing hub and ITM and BCD’s AI adoption blueprint. Those initiatives tackle different tasks, from promoting holidays to assessing AI tools; Groupr’s focus is coordinating the suppliers and administration behind group trips.
