Croatia Airlines is seeking shareholder approval for a €35 million state capital injection, potentially bringing forward cash originally planned for 2027. An extraordinary general meeting on October 29 will consider the proposal, EX-YU Aviation News reported. The proposal remains subject to a shareholder vote.

The proposal would raise the carrier’s share capital from approximately €213.27 million to €248.27 million by issuing 35 million ordinary shares with a nominal value of €1 each. The Croatian government would subscribe to the entire issue through a cash contribution, excluding other shareholders from participation.

The transaction belongs to the recapitalisation programme the government approved in December 2025. That programme combines €70 million in fresh cash with the conversion of existing state loans and interest into equity. The first €35 million cash instalment was received in January 2026, according to EX-YU’s report.

The government linked its support to Croatia Airlines’ transition to 15 Airbus A220s, launched in 2024 and planned for completion in 2027. Supply-chain disruption and aircraft delivery delays have added costs. We have also covered Breeze’s A220 transition, another carrier’s move to a single aircraft family for scheduled flights.

The proposed injection would complete the existing programme’s cash component. However, shareholder approval and the actual payment remain separate steps. The meeting notice does not establish an exact payment date, so an earlier transfer remains a possibility rather than a confirmed receipt of funds.
