Key Notes
- Pay with Points is available at 150 participating hotels in the United States.
- Hilton Honors Silver, Gold, Diamond and Diamond Reserve members can use the feature.
- Guests redeem through the app at digital checkout and should review the offer before confirming.
Hilton Honors members can now use points to reduce eligible hotel bills directly in the Hilton Honors app. The new Pay with Points option has launched at 150 participating U.S. hotels, adding a way to redeem rewards at checkout rather than only when reserving a room.
The feature is restricted to members with Silver, Gold, Diamond or Diamond Reserve status. Hilton’s launch announcement sets out plans to reach more than 800 hotels by the end of 2026, followed by more than 6,000 participating properties in the U.S. and Canada in early 2027. Those expansion targets do not mean every hotel offers it today.
How Pay With Points Works
Eligible guests use Digital Check Out on their scheduled departure date. The app shows the hotel bill and available redemption choices, allowing members to apply points to part or all of an eligible balance. The remaining cash amount is paid through the payment method on file.
The process stays within the app: guests cannot redeem points there and then settle the remainder at reception. Hilton’s step-by-step guide also says the correct Honors number must be attached to the reservation before check-in. Adding it afterward will not make that reservation eligible.
Before confirming, review the number of points being used, the balance left in your account and the money still due. Once checkout and redemption are complete, the help page says the transaction cannot be adjusted or reversed by the hotel or customer care.
Which Hotel Charges Can Points Cover?
This is a hotel-bill redemption feature, distinct from choosing a reward-night reservation before traveling. Hilton’s program terms leave eligibility and available redemption options to the app. They do not establish one universal conversion rate for every member and hotel.
The terms also allow minimum point thresholds and property-specific restrictions. A room charge, fee or other item should not be assumed eligible until the app identifies it as such. The help guide excludes confidential and third-party folios, another reason to check the actual reservation rather than rely on the hotel’s brand name alone.
Check the Value Before Confirming
For travelers, the useful comparison is the cash reduction shown against the points requested. If an offer uses 20,000 points to remove $80 from a bill, for example, that is 0.4 cents per point. That calculation is illustrative, not a published Hilton redemption rate.
Compare the displayed offer with another realistic use for your balance, including a future room booking. Paying less today may be convenient, but the ability to redeem points does not by itself show that it is the best-value option for your plans.
If the option is missing, confirm the hotel participates, the stay meets the requirements, and it is your scheduled checkout day. Keep a regular payment method available for any remaining balance.
We have also examined Marriott’s upgrade queue, another change to how hotel loyalty benefits appear in an app. In both cases, the details attached to a particular reservation matter more than assuming a benefit is available across an entire chain.
