Key Notes

  • Aruba service is scheduled to begin November 7, with Montego Bay, Providenciales and Los Cabos following through December.
  • The new routes use 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 jets with two-by-two seating and no middle seats.
  • Porter expects nearly 600 Ottawa flights to Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica this winter, more than 80% above the previous year.

Porter Airlines is adding four winter sun routes from Ottawa, with Aruba service scheduled to begin on November 7. The expansion gives travelers from Canada’s capital more nonstop choices for the Caribbean and Mexico, followed by three further launches through December.

The airline’s route announcement, published by Ottawa International Airport, sets out new flights to Oranjestad, Montego Bay, Providenciales and Los Cabos. Porter says it will be the only carrier flying nonstop from Ottawa to Aruba, Turks and Caicos and Los Cabos.

Four Routes Roll Out Through December

The published schedule lists these launch dates and peak frequencies:

  • Oranjestad, Aruba: November 7, with up to three flights a week
  • Montego Bay, Jamaica: November 25, with two flights a week
  • Providenciales, Turks and Caicos: December 17, with two flights a week
  • Los Cabos, Mexico: December 18, with two flights a week

These are peak frequencies, rather than a guarantee that every week will have the same number of departures. Travelers planning a short break should check both the outbound and return dates before committing to accommodation.

No Middle Seats on the New Flights

All four services are scheduled to use Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2. The aircraft’s two-by-two layout means there are no middle seats. The announced onboard service includes complimentary beer and wine, Canadian snacks and free Wi-Fi.

The route and cabin details were also confirmed in November 6 trade coverage. The announcement does not set a single introductory fare for the four destinations, so travelers should compare the full cost of their chosen dates and fare conditions.

A Bigger Winter Network From Ottawa

Porter expects nearly 600 flights from Ottawa to Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica over the winter, more than 80% above the previous year. That total covers the broader southern network, rather than only these four new routes.

The Los Cabos launch also adds a Canadian connection for a destination preparing a new campaign for 2027. For Ottawa-area travelers, the immediate advantage is the opportunity to reach three of the new destinations without changing aircraft at another Canadian airport.

What to Check Before Booking

Travelers should distinguish the standalone flight from a packaged holiday. Transat offers packages using Porter flights from Ottawa to selected destinations, including Aruba, but the announcement does not extend that package list to all four new routes.

Compare the available flight-only fare with any package for the same dates, including baggage, transfers and cancellation terms. The staggered launches also matter: a November departure works for Aruba or, later in the month, Montego Bay, while the new Turks and Caicos and Los Cabos services begin in December.
