The world’s first Minecraft-themed hotel is set to open at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in southwest London in 2027, giving families a way to extend the game’s new theme park experience into an overnight stay. Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced a 69-room property alongside Minecraft World, the resort’s forthcoming themed land.
The hotel reveal adds accommodation to a project already centered on rides, interactive experiences, dining and shopping. Minecraft World is a £50 million development that will bring the game’s block-built environments into the real world, with an attraction aimed at both experienced players and newcomers.
For families planning a United Kingdom vacation, the combination creates a potential short-break destination around a familiar game. However, neither the hotel nor the land has an exact opening date, and hotel reservations are not yet available.
A Minecraft Sleepover Across Four Floors
Minecraft World Hotel will have 20 premium rooms and 49 standard rooms across four floors. Its design will draw on the game’s biomes, creatures and recognizable objects, with blocky trees and animals introducing the Overworld theme as guests arrive.
The experience will continue through the building, including elevators inspired by Nether Portals and corridors designed to resemble mine tunnels. Bedrooms will carry the same visual language through their blocks, colors and textures, making the hotel part of the attraction rather than simply somewhere to sleep after visiting the park.
Dining will also follow the game’s environments. An underwater-themed restaurant will take inspiration from Minecraft’s ocean biomes, while a potion bar will recreate elements of the Woodland Mansion. Room rates, occupancy limits and the differences between standard and premium accommodation have not yet been detailed in the announcement.
Merlin creative producer Daisy Mercedes said the hotel would allow fans to continue their Minecraft adventure overnight. Mojang’s creative lead for parks and experiences, Filip Keatley Thoms, emphasized translating the game’s scale, creatures and landscapes into physical spaces while keeping the result recognizable to players.
Escape the Nether Leads the New Attractions
The centerpiece of Minecraft World will be Escape the Nether, billed as the world’s first Minecraft roller coaster. The ride will combine an indoor journey through dark mines with an outdoor section reached through a Nether portal, bringing riders into an Overworld-themed setting.
Construction footage released with the announcement shows track already in place. Elsewhere, Chessington promises caves, mineshafts and plains to explore, encounters with Minecraft mobs, and themed food and retail experiences. The resort has not yet published the coaster’s height requirements, leaving an important detail outstanding for families with younger children.
