Hilton has opened Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort, expanding its flagship brand in Malaysia with a 251-room beachfront property set between tropical rainforest and the Andaman Sea. The new resort sits along the scenic shores of Burau Bay and is designed for travelers seeking nature, wellness, family stays and full-service resort comfort in one of Malaysia’s best-known island destinations.
The opening strengthens Hilton’s presence in Malaysia at a time when the country continues to build momentum as a leisure and luxury hospitality market. For Langkawi, the resort adds a major international brand to an island already known for beaches, rainforest landscapes, geopark scenery and relaxed coastal escapes.
Spanning almost 22 acres, the resort has been designed to blend into its surroundings, using weathered stone, warm timber and neutral tones. The rooms and suites range from Terrace and Deluxe Rooms to Executive Suites, each with a private terrace or balcony overlooking the rainforest, mountains or sea. Sixteen connecting rooms are aimed at multi-generational families, balancing privacy with shared space.
Nature and Wellness Shape the Stay
Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort is positioning itself around restoration and purposeful discovery rather than a standard beach holiday. Its eforea Spa draws on Langkawi’s coastal setting and indigenous botanicals, with outdoor sauna barrels, a dedicated Salt Room and an Elixir Lounge serving artisanal teas.
The wellness experience extends across three swimming pools, including a family pool, a dedicated kids’ pool and an adults-only retreat. Five meditative rock pools add a quieter layer to the resort’s design, while the Nature Center offers guided rainforest walks and nature encounters that highlight Langkawi’s biodiversity.
Active travelers can use tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, while the Kids’ Club offers activities such as origami, bracelet making, chess and foosball. That combination gives the resort flexibility for families, couples and guests who want both relaxation and light activity during a beach stay.
Dining is also designed around the sense of place. Gingerfire serves Asian and international cuisine, Haliya Lounge offers artisanal coffees and botanical-infused light bites, MINGZHU focuses on Yunnan’s spice-rich culinary traditions, and Trattoria Mare brings Italian flavors to a beachfront setting on the Andaman coast.
Hilton Builds Momentum in Malaysia
The resort also enters the market as an event and celebration venue. Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort offers more than 5,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including the 4,455-square-foot Orchid Grand Ballroom for up to 210 guests. Outdoor options include the Grand Lawn and a 650-meter private beachfront, giving the property strong appeal for weddings, corporate retreats and social events.
Hilton executives framed the opening as part of a broader push to bring full-service hospitality to Malaysia’s leading leisure destinations. The resort joins a growing local portfolio that includes Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie and Hilton Garden Inn Kota Kinabalu Tuaran.
The company is also preparing to expand its luxury presence in the country with Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur and Conrad Kuala Lumpur expected later this year. That makes the Langkawi opening part of a larger Malaysia growth story across resort, urban and luxury segments.
Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort also participates in Hilton Honors, with members able to access benefits such as member discounts, standard Wi-Fi, mobile check-in, room selection and Digital Key. To mark the opening, members can earn 5,000 points on eligible stays of at least three nights through October 31, 2026.
For travelers, the resort adds a new reason to consider Langkawi for a nature-led beach escape. For Hilton, it is another step in turning Malaysia into a more prominent part of its Asia Pacific growth map.
