Qatar Airways is turning ordinary connections through Doha into Formula 1 weekends by adding race tickets to selected stopover packages for the 2026 Qatar Grand Prix.

For the first time, Qatar Airways Holidays will bundle hotel accommodation with a three-day T16 Grandstand ticket to the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix, scheduled for November 27-29 at Lusail International Circuit.

The idea is straightforward: passengers already traveling through Hamad International Airport can extend their connection and add a major sporting event without booking a separate vacation.

Travelers searching eligible dates between November 27 and 29 will be able to select flights and a preferred hotel, with the three-day race ticket incorporated into qualifying packages. The tickets provide access across the Grand Prix weekend, including practice, qualifying and the main race.

The T16 Grandstand is positioned around the final sector of Lusail International Circuit, giving spectators views of cars approaching the closing part of each lap.

Qatar Airways Holidays says the Formula 1 stopover packages are expected to become available for booking later in August, subject to availability.

A Stopover Designed as a Mini Vacation

The Formula 1 product builds on Qatar Airways’ wider stopover strategy, which encourages connecting passengers to spend time in Doha rather than remaining inside the airport between flights.

Travelers will be able to choose among Standard, Premium, Luxury and Premium Beach hotel categories. The stopover program also offers flexible 24-hour check-in and check-out, an important benefit for passengers arriving on overnight or early-morning flights.

Additional experiences can be added separately, including Doha city tours, cultural activities, beach club access, shopping and dining experiences.

That combination allows passengers to build very different trips around the same Grand Prix weekend. Some may focus almost entirely on the race, while others can use the stopover to visit Doha’s museums, restaurants and waterfront attractions or spend part of their stay at a beach resort.

The offer complements Qatar Airways Holidays’ existing Formula 1 packages, which already combine flights, accommodation and race access. The difference is that the stopover version specifically targets travelers passing through Qatar on longer international journeys.

Privilege Club members can also earn Avios and Qpoints on eligible bookings and may have the option to use Cash + Avios toward qualifying packages.

The product fits naturally with Qatar Airways’ role as Global Partner and Official Airline of Formula 1, but it also demonstrates how airlines are increasingly using major events to make their hubs part of the travel experience.

For Qatar, a passenger connecting between two countries is no longer valuable only as an airline customer. Convincing that traveler to spend several nights in Doha adds hotel nights, restaurant spending and attraction visits to the same journey.

Formula 1 provides an unusually strong reason to make that stop.

Instead of simply connecting through Hamad International Airport, racing fans can now build an entire Grand Prix weekend into a trip they may already have been planning.
