Key Notes
- Nymphea’s Brittany programme carries six guests between Josselin and Redon, with château visits, markets and local tastings.
- New 2027 excursions include Burgundy falconry experiences, a Canal du Midi estate lunch and Irish whiskey and heritage visits.
- The 10% offer applies only to selected cabin and charter departures, with a November 16, 2026 deposit deadline.
European Waterways is expanding its 2027 hotel-barge programme with a Brittany route and new château, food and whiskey experiences in France and Ireland. A separate early-booking promotion offers 10% off selected cabin departures and private whole-barge charters, with a deposit deadline of November 16, 2026.
The appeal is a holiday built around small waterways and time ashore: a market visit with the chef, lunch at a wine estate or an afternoon inside a château. The latest additions accompany the operator’s 2027/28 programme.
Six Guests Explore Brittany Aboard Nymphea
The Brittany itinerary runs between Josselin and Redon aboard Nymphea, following the River Oust and Canal de Nantes à Brest. The sample seven-day, six-night programme begins with a transfer from Redon TGV station and a welcome aboard beneath Château de Josselin.
A private château visit is followed during the week by medieval Malestroit, the standing stones of Monteneuf and Rochefort-en-Terre. Culinary stops include dinner at Maison Tiegezh, described by the operator as Michelin-starred, a local cider tasting and a visit to Dantelezh winery on the Rhuys peninsula.
The route also calls at La Gacilly before returning through the Breton countryside to Redon. European Waterways notes that the sample itinerary can change and that sailings operate in the reverse direction on alternate weeks.
Nymphea accommodates six guests in three air-conditioned cabins with en suite facilities. A sun deck and bicycles provide ways to enjoy the waterways beyond the dining room and saloon.
Châteaux and Regional Food Shape the Excursions
The operator’s 2027 highlights include falconry experiences at Château de Germolles for Finesse and L’Impressionniste, and at Château de Bazoches for La Belle Epoque and L’Art de Vivre. Finesse also visits Château de Couches.
On the Canal du Midi, Anjodi adds a visit to Château Canet near Carcassonne. The experience combines olive and wine tastings with a private lunch, giving guests a closer look at the estate’s produce.
In Ireland, the ten-guest Shannon Princess programme includes a Tullamore D.E.W. distillery tour and tasting, alongside an enhanced private visit to Birr Castle. Its River Shannon setting offers another option for travellers choosing a barge holiday around regional heritage.
How the 10% Early-Booking Offer Works
The current offer list separates whole-barge charters from individual cabin bookings. Eligible dates vary by vessel, and the listed deposit deadline is November 16, 2026.
Examples include 10% off Finesse charters on selected July departures and a cabin offer for its April 25 sailing. Anjodi has selected summer charter dates and an April 11 cabin departure listed. These are selected-date offers, rather than a discount across every 2027 sailing.
Nymphea is not on the current offer list, so travellers should not assume the Brittany itinerary qualifies. The general conditions restrict offers to new bookings confirmed within the valid booking period and exclude combining them with another promotion unless stated otherwise.
We have also covered Uniworld’s fleet expansion, which adds larger river-cruise options. For travellers considering European Waterways, the decision starts with a different scale: the number of people sharing the barge, the region explored and the excursions attached to the chosen departure.
