Dubai Gold District plans to open a walkway made with 24-carat gold before the end of 2026, adding a new attraction to the city’s jewellery-shopping quarter. The district describes the proposed path as the first and longest of its kind in the world.
Rashid Al Harmoodi, the district’s senior commercial director, told Emarat Al Youm that the walkway was scheduled to open within the next two months. The update gives visitors a year-end target, although an exact opening day has not been announced.
What Is Planned for the Gold Walkway?
The proposal would let residents and tourists walk along a golden path inside Dubai Gold District. Its precise length, the quantity of gold and the construction method have not been detailed in the announcement reviewed for this report. The description should therefore not be read as confirmation that an entire road will be built from solid gold.
The first-and-longest description is the district’s claim for the planned attraction. It is not confirmation that the completed walkway has received a Guinness World Records title.
A New Attraction in an Established Shopping District
The project builds on plans introduced when Ithra Dubai launched the district in January. The official launch announcement included a Gold Street constructed using gold, with further details to be released in phases. We covered that wider district launch earlier this year.
The destination brings together retail shops, bullion businesses and wholesale traders in Old Dubai. Its offering extends beyond gold to jewellery, gemstones, watches and other shopping categories, supported by hotels and places to eat. For visitors, the proposed walkway would add another reason to explore the area alongside its shop windows and traditional souk lanes.
How to Visit the Area Now
The existing Gold Souk can already be explored without waiting for the new path. Visit Dubai’s visitor guide lists the souk as free to visit and highlights the nearby Spice Souk and abra stations. That access information applies to the established market; admission arrangements for the proposed walkway have not been announced.
The district’s directions page identifies Al Ras and Gold Souq stations on the Metro Green Line as nearby options. Visitors can also cross Dubai Creek by abra from Bur Dubai to Deira Old Souk and continue into the shopping area.
For a trip later this year, keep the walkway as a possible addition to a Deira itinerary and check the district’s updates before setting aside time specifically for it. The opening target is a plan, and the visitor arrangements still need to be confirmed.
