Southwest Airlines has added LOT Polish Airlines as its 11th international partner, giving customers the ability to book itineraries combining flights operated by both carriers. The partnership expands Southwest’s international connectivity while giving travelers access to LOT’s network through its Warsaw hub.
LOT Polish Airlines is based at Warsaw Chopin Airport and connects Central and Eastern Europe with destinations around the world. Its long-haul network includes services to North America, India, Japan and South Korea, operated in part with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The two airlines both serve Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco in the United States. These shared airports will allow passengers to connect between the carriers’ respective networks, creating additional options for travel between the U.S., Poland and other destinations across Europe and beyond.
The partnership continues Southwest’s strategy of expanding international connectivity through relationships with other airlines rather than relying solely on its own network. Since selecting Icelandair as its first overseas partner in September 2024, Southwest has added a growing group of international carriers covering Europe, Asia and other major travel markets.
Its international partners now include China Airlines, EVA Air, Philippine Airlines, Condor, Turkish Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air Premia and TAP Air Portugal, alongside Icelandair and LOT Polish Airlines.
For Southwest customers, the LOT agreement provides another route into Central and Eastern Europe and supports connections beyond Warsaw. For LOT, the relationship adds access to Southwest’s large U.S. network and could make combined itineraries more convenient for travelers connecting through major American gateways.
The agreement also reflects the growing importance of partnership-based network expansion as airlines seek to offer broader international itineraries without operating every route themselves. Warsaw’s position between Western Europe and emerging Central and Eastern European markets gives LOT an increasingly important role in connecting North American travelers with the region.
