Onyx CenterSource has launched a Commission Payment Status Tool designed to help travel advisors follow hotel commission payments through the collection and payment process. The self-service platform is available to Onyx partner agencies, agencies that do not currently use the company’s services, and individual travel advisors.
Advisors can access the tool through the Onyx website and enter basic information connected to a booking. The system then displays the payment’s current status, including whether Onyx has received the commission funds from the hotel. Once the payment is received, the company can begin processing the funds for delivery to the relevant agency.
The tool addresses a persistent operational problem for travel advisors, who may have limited visibility into why a commission has not yet arrived. Hotel commission payments can involve several parties, including the property, hotel management company, payment processor, agency, and individual advisor. Delays can therefore be difficult to trace, forcing advisors to contact hotels or payment companies manually for updates.
Onyx said the product was developed in response to feedback from the agency community. Chief Commercial Officer Tony Wagner said uncertainty around commission status is one of the industry’s most common frustrations because advisors have traditionally lacked a simple way to see what is happening behind the scenes.
For agencies, greater payment transparency could reduce time spent investigating outstanding commissions and improve cash flow forecasting. It may also help advisors determine whether a delay originates with the hotel or within the payment process before escalating the issue. The launch reflects a broader travel technology trend toward giving agencies more direct access to operational data rather than requiring them to depend on email inquiries and manual support.
