Amadeus Brings Travel Technology Into Anthropic’s Claude AI Tools
Amadeus is working with Anthropic to bring travel content and selected applications into Claude, giving developers and travel professionals new ways to work with travel technology through natural language.
Amadeus is working with Anthropic to bring its travel technology, content and selected applications directly into Claude-powered workflows, as artificial intelligence begins reshaping how developers and travel professionals interact with complex industry systems.
The collaboration focuses on two groups. For software developers, Amadeus is developing a toolkit that will make its connectivity, documentation, authentication and travel content accessible within AI-enabled development environments. The goal is to reduce the time developers spend moving between portals, technical documentation and integration tools when building travel applications.
Users of Claude Code, Anthropic’s agentic coding environment, are expected to gain access to Amadeus resources using natural-language instructions. Developers could ask Claude to identify relevant capabilities, retrieve documentation, work with real-time travel information and help build or test applications without repeatedly leaving their coding environment. Amadeus said the initial focus will include flight and destination content.
The initiative comes shortly after Amadeus announced plans to close its self-service APIs portal while retaining its Enterprise portal. That decision attracted criticism from some travel technology observers who argued that developer access was becoming more important as AI agents gained influence in travel planning and booking. Amadeus is positioning its work with Claude Code as an evolution of the traditional developer portal rather than a replacement based on conventional web interfaces.
For travel professionals, the company is also preparing a plugin for Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s workplace agent. Selected Amadeus applications would become accessible from within the AI environment, allowing users to interact with travel systems without constantly switching between separate platforms.
The longer-term ambition goes beyond simply displaying information. Amadeus expects AI-powered workflows to help users conduct research, analyze data, draft content and potentially take actions across Amadeus systems using plain-language requests. The company says access will remain controlled, with organizations retaining oversight, governance and safeguards over how AI tools interact with their systems.
The work builds on a recently completed Claude Enterprise pilot within Amadeus, while the company continues evaluating broader deployment options.
The collaboration reflects a wider transition from software designed around specialist interfaces toward systems that can increasingly be accessed conversationally. Travel distribution remains highly complex, with numerous databases, authentication layers, booking workflows and operational tools sitting behind the customer experience.
By making those capabilities available inside AI development and workplace environments, Amadeus is betting that agents could become a new interface layer for the travel industry. Instead of requiring users to understand every underlying system, developers and travel professionals may increasingly describe the outcome they want and let AI help navigate the technology required to achieve it.
