Key Notes

  • Five Verdi hotels in Malta, Portugal and Tunisia are due to join Handwritten Collection from November 2026.
  • Two further Verdi-managed properties in Hungary and the Czech Republic are planned to follow by early 2027.
  • Verdi retains its management platform, while the Corinthia luxury hotel brand remains independent.

Accor is bringing five Verdi hotels in Malta, Portugal and Tunisia into its Handwritten Collection from November 2026, giving travelers more Mediterranean and European options within the group’s hotel network. The agreement with Corinthia Group covers existing properties, with two further hotels in Hungary and the Czech Republic planned to follow by early 2027.

The collaboration uses franchise distribution arrangements, according to Corinthia’s investor announcement. Verdi retains its management platform while gaining access to Accor’s international booking, marketing and loyalty infrastructure.

Which Verdi Hotels Are Joining?

The initial collection spans three different kinds of trip: Malta’s harborfront and coastal neighborhoods, a Tunisian beach resort and a historic Portuguese city. The companies’ announcement names these five properties:

  • Verdi Gżira Promenade, Malta: A base on the Marsamxett Harbour waterfront, alongside Gżira’s seafront promenade.
  • Verdi St. George’s Bay Marina, Malta: A waterfront hotel in St Julian’s, close to the area’s dining and entertainment.
  • Verdi Dragonara, Malta: The former Vivaldi Hotel, overlooking the Dragonara headland near St Julian’s.
  • Verdi Tunis Beach Resort, Tunisia: A Mediterranean resort on the Côtes de Carthage, within reach of Tunis.
  • Verdi Santarém, Portugal: A hotel in historic Santarém, north of Lisbon, offering a base for exploring the Ribatejo region.

For a Malta stay, the addresses offer different starting points. Gżira puts the harbor promenade at the center of the visit, while the St Julian’s properties suit travelers looking toward the bay and the town’s restaurants. The Marina hotel also lists sea-view accommodation, pool facilities and waterfront dining among its current offerings.

What Handwritten Collection Adds

Accor’s Handwritten Collection brings together individually styled hotels, with an emphasis on the personality of each property and its hosts. The affiliation connects those hotels with the group’s distribution and ALL Accor loyalty ecosystem, while allowing them to retain their own character.

The arrangement gives Verdi a broader route to international guests while the hotels remain under its management. It also adds another example of hotel groups expanding through collections: we recently covered Preferred’s Legend additions, which similarly bring individual properties into a wider hospitality network.

Corinthia Hotels Remain Independent

The agreement applies to Verdi, the group’s upscale hotel platform. Corinthia’s luxury hotel brand remains independent and unchanged. Its separate development plans, including the Grace Bay project we covered in Turks and Caicos, should not be confused with this Verdi affiliation.

The distinction matters when comparing brands or loyalty benefits. The announced transaction is a franchise collaboration; the companies have not announced an Accor purchase of Corinthia or a transfer of Verdi’s hotel management.

More European Hotels Are Planned

Corinthia’s filing targets early 2027 for two further Verdi-managed properties in Hungary and the Czech Republic to join. Those additions remain a later phase, separate from the five hotels due to enter Handwritten Collection from November.

For travelers booking around the transition, the details to confirm are the individual hotel’s participation date, the eligible booking channel and the loyalty benefits attached to the rate. The announcement does not set out a property-by-property activation timetable or explain how existing Verdi loyalty arrangements will change.
