Preferred Hotels & Resorts has added 11 properties to its Legend Collection in 2026, taking the portfolio beyond 125 hotels worldwide. The additions span European city stays, Asian retreats, U.S. resorts and a major project in the United Arab Emirates.

The expansion gives travelers a wider choice of hotels within Preferred’s highest luxury collection. It also brings together different stages of development: established properties, recent openings and resorts still preparing to welcome guests.

Which Hotels Have Joined the Legend Collection?

Preferred’s September announcement names the following additions:

  • Spain: BLESS Hotel Barcelona, BLESS Ibiza The Site and Serras Sevilla
  • Italy: San Clemente Palace Venice
  • Portugal: MYTHIC SANA Downtown Suites, Lisbon
  • United States: Edgewood Tahoe Resort, Nevada, and The Cooper, Charleston
  • Thailand: Dusit Thani Bangkok
  • India: The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary, Madikeri
  • Morocco: Palais Jamaï Fès
  • United Arab Emirates: Wynn Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah

City Hotels and Resorts Offer Different Ways to Stay

San Clemente Palace illustrates how a city hotel can also work as a retreat. The Venice property occupies an island in the lagoon, with gardens, historic courtyards, dining and wellness facilities. Its complimentary boat connects guests with San Marco, and the hotel says the shuttle runs every 30 minutes.

That setting comes with a practical consideration: sightseeing starts with a boat journey. Travelers choosing between an island resort and a hotel in Venice’s historic center should compare transfer arrangements alongside room categories and rates.

Dusit Thani Bangkok offers a different city experience. The hotel reopened on September 27, 2024, following its redevelopment opposite Lumpini Park. Dusit’s hotel specifications describe 257 rooms, starting at 50 square meters, with park views throughout. Its inclusion in this year’s collection expansion therefore does not mark a new hotel opening.

For travelers prioritizing outdoor time, Edgewood Tahoe combines a Lake Tahoe shoreline location with golf, a spa and dining. Its accommodation includes lodge rooms and larger villa suites. The choice between a city base and a resort should follow the trip itself: a short sightseeing visit and a longer stay built around the property call for different booking decisions.

Two Future Openings Need a Separate Look

Preferred lists Palais Jamaï Fès for an October 2026 opening. Travelers planning an early stay should confirm the exact opening date and the facilities available for their travel dates before making nonrefundable arrangements.

Wynn Al Marjan Island remains a future opening, scheduled for spring 2027. Preferred’s earlier Wynn announcement describes a 1,530-accommodation resort in Ras Al Khaimah, with 22 restaurants and lounges, a marina, pools and a beach club. Joining the collection ahead of opening establishes its affiliation; it does not mean the resort is already operating.

What to Check Before Booking

I Prefer Hotel Rewards can help travelers connect stays across participating independent hotels, but membership benefits depend on the booking and property. The program’s terms require eligible booking channels for earning points and state that not every participating hotel offers award stays. Upgrades depend on availability, and an award booking may still leave taxes, resort fees and other charges payable.

As we noted in our Vignette Collection coverage, hotel collections can connect distinctive properties to a broader booking and loyalty network. For this expansion, compare the total rate, cancellation conditions, transfer costs and confirmed opening status at the individual hotel. Those details will matter more to the trip than the collection label alone.
