Uber is expanding further into travel experiences this summer through a new partnership with Click&Boat, bringing private boat bookings to the Uber app across some of Europe’s most popular coastal destinations. The service is expected to launch in mid-June and run through the summer season, giving travelers a faster way to reserve skippered day trips on the water.

The partnership marks another step in Uber’s shift from ride-hailing company to broader mobility and travel platform. Instead of focusing only on city transport, Uber is increasingly adding services that fit into how people move, plan and spend during trips. Boat bookings are a natural extension in Mediterranean destinations, where access to coves, islands and beaches often depends on water rather than roads.

Click&Boat brings the supply side to the partnership. The company operates a global marketplace with more than 55,000 boats, while the Uber collaboration will focus on a curated offer of skippered day rentals in major European leisure markets. The initial rollout covers destinations in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Croatia, including cities and resort areas such as Nice, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Split, Dubrovnik, Mallorca, Barcelona and Ibiza.

Boating Becomes Part of Everyday Travel Planning

The service is designed to make renting a boat feel closer to ordering a ride. A new Boat tab in the Uber app will direct users to Click&Boat, where the final booking will be completed. The offer will focus on daily rentals with a skipper, meaning travelers will not need a boating license, technical knowledge or previous sailing experience.

That detail is central to the strategy. Boat rentals have traditionally felt complex for casual travelers, especially those unfamiliar with local operators, insurance rules, vessel types or departure points. By narrowing the product to skippered day experiences, Uber and Click&Boat are trying to remove much of that friction.

Travelers will be able to choose themed experiences such as sunset cruises, water sports, aperitifs at sea, boat parties and day trips to hidden coves or beaches that are difficult to reach by land. Prices shown through Uber are expected to match those on the Click&Boat platform, adding a layer of transparency that could make the service easier for first-time boaters to understand.

For Uber One members, the offer is expected to include credits worth 10% of the trip cost. That loyalty angle could help Uber connect travel purchases more closely with its existing user base.

Mediterranean Experiences Move Further Online

The launch comes as experience-led travel continues to grow across Mediterranean destinations. Younger travelers in particular are looking for activities that feel personal, social and visually memorable, from private boat days to food tours, beach clubs and sunset itineraries. For coastal destinations, boating sits directly in that trend.

The partnership also gives boat owners and operators broader visibility during peak season. Instead of depending only on local referrals, marina traffic or traditional rental platforms, owners included in the program can reach travelers already using Uber during their trip. That could be especially valuable in high-demand destinations where visitors may decide on water-based activities at short notice.

The move also reflects a wider “platformization” of travel services. Hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, tours, transport and now boat rentals are increasingly being pulled into familiar apps that travelers already use. For consumers, the benefit is convenience. For platforms, the opportunity is to capture more of the trip beyond the airport transfer or city ride.

If the rollout works, Uber Boat by Click&Boat could make private boating feel less like a luxury niche and more like an accessible day-trip option. In the Mediterranean, where the coastline is often best experienced from the water, that could change how many travelers plan their summer escapes.
