Mandarin Oriental Adds Private Homes in Croatia and Greece

Mandarin Oriental is expanding its private holiday-home collection into Lopud in Croatia and Porto Heli in Greece, offering two new settings for a stay with family or friends. The group says its latest expansion adds 12 homes, taking Exceptional Homes to 43 properties across 18 destinations.

The appeal is a whole home with organised hospitality: space for a group, daily housekeeping and help arranging the stay. The properties are privately owned and selected for the collection, with services delivered to Mandarin Oriental’s standards. They are holiday rentals rather than newly opened hotels.

A Croatian Monastery Becomes the Setting

One of the most distinctive addresses is Lopud 1483, a restored 15th-century Franciscan monastery on a car-free island off Dubrovnik. Its five bedrooms accommodate ten guests, with sea views, Mediterranean gardens and direct access to the Adriatic shaping the stay.

The property’s booking details describe an arrival via Dubrovnik Airport, followed by a car transfer to Brsečine and a private boat to the island. A single shared arrival and departure transfer for the group is included; additional transfers can be arranged separately. That makes coordinating flights useful for friends travelling from different cities.

Chef service, a property manager, concierge support and daily housekeeping are included. Food and beverage provisions are generally charged separately, although the listing includes selected local wines. Guests also have access to kayaks and paddleboards, while further excursions can be organised around the island and nearby coast.

For a group, the attraction is being able to spend time together without organising every meal and outing independently. It is still worth agreeing on room allocations and arrival arrangements before booking, particularly when several households are sharing the same property.

Porto Heli Adds a Greek Group Escape

In Greece, Vanikiba brings the collection to Porto Heli. Its current booking page lists seven bedrooms and capacity for 16 guests, with an infinity pool, shaded outdoor spaces and views towards the Argolic Gulf.

The group’s expansion announcement lists starting weekly prices of €49,084 for Vanikiba and €105,000 for Lopud 1483. These are advertised starting rates for the properties, rather than per-person prices or quotes for a particular travel date.

With larger homes, maximum occupancy is only the first detail to compare. Ask for the bedroom layout, sleeping arrangements and any restrictions relevant to children or events. A property that accommodates a large party can still work very differently for couples, families and a group planning a celebration.

A Wider Choice Across the Mediterranean

The broader collection includes Tuscan estates, beachfront homes in Sardinia, restored trulli in Puglia and villas around Marbella. It also reaches northern Thailand through Tatvani in Chiang Rai. The locations offer quite different holidays, from city-and-countryside combinations to coastal weeks and private rural retreats.

For Mandarin Oriental, the expansion extends its hospitality beyond the traditional hotel stay. We recently covered its Globe-Trotter collection, another example of the brand developing travel experiences and products around its established identity.

What to Confirm Before Booking

Request a full quote for your dates, party size and intended activities. Check the minimum stay, deposit, cancellation terms and what the chef service includes, then establish which transfers, provisions and experiences would be additional costs.

A private home can make a shared holiday feel easier when its location and layout match the group. Choosing between a Croatian island, a Greek coastal escape and an Italian estate should start with how everyone wants to spend the week, then move to the services needed to make that plan work.
