Solo travel specialist Just You has launched Kindred, a new online community platform designed to help travelers connect before, during and after their trips. The platform is aimed at current, past and prospective guests, giving solo travelers a dedicated space to share advice, ask questions, exchange photos and build relationships around upcoming tours.
The most important feature is the itinerary-specific trip chat. Guests booked on the same departure can introduce themselves before leaving home, discuss practical details and begin forming a sense of group connection before arriving at the airport. Just You holiday directors also join chats before departure to share tour information and answer questions, giving first-time solo travelers a more structured point of contact.
The launch addresses one of the biggest barriers in the solo travel market: anxiety about traveling alone. For many travelers, especially those booking an escorted tour for the first time, the concern is not only the destination or the itinerary. It is the uncertainty of joining a group without knowing anyone. Kindred is designed to reduce that hesitation by making the social side of the trip visible earlier in the booking journey.
The platform remains active during the tour and after guests return home, allowing travelers to stay in touch with people they met on the road. That full travel life-cycle approach could be useful for a brand built around repeat trips, referrals and community trust. It also gives Just You a way to keep guests engaged between holidays, rather than limiting contact to booking confirmations and pre-departure documents.
Just You has operated for more than 25 years and focuses exclusively on solo travelers. Its tours include private rooms with no single supplements, a major selling point in a sector where solo guests often face higher costs. The company offers around 100 escorted itineraries worldwide, ranging from short breaks to longer trips, with Europe remaining especially popular among Australian travelers. Italy and Croatia are among the key destinations.
The platform also gives travel advisors another tool for selling escorted solo holidays. In Australia, agents account for around 80% of Just You’s sales, making reassurance a central part of the booking process. Advisors can point clients toward Kindred as evidence that solo travel with the brand does not mean being isolated.
The move reflects a broader change in solo travel. The market is no longer defined mainly by backpackers or budget independence. Just You says demand is strong among affluent travelers over 55, particularly women, though more people in long-term relationships are also choosing to travel independently when partners have different interests.
For travel companies, Kindred points to a larger lesson. The future of solo travel may depend as much on emotional confidence as on destination choice. A well-planned itinerary matters, but so does the ability to feel connected before the trip begins.
