Hyatt Centric Sapporo opened on October 3, 2026, adding a 216-room hotel to the center of Hokkaido’s capital. The first Hyatt Centric property on Japan’s northern island combines a location near Odori Park with restaurants focused on local ingredients and an introductory offer for stays through the end of December.

The opening coincides with the debut of Urbannet Sapporo Link Tower, the mixed-use development housing the hotel. Developer NTT Urban Development’s project announcement describes a complex bringing together offices, shops, a startup support facility and the hotel.

A Central Base Between Sapporo Station and Odori

The property sits beside the former Hokkaido Government Office Building, better known as the Red Brick Building. NTT places it about a six-minute walk from Odori subway station and ten minutes from JR Sapporo Station. For visitors spending several days exploring the city, that positioning offers a useful balance between rail access, parks and downtown sightseeing.

Arrivals through New Chitose Airport can take JR Hokkaido’s Airport trains to Sapporo Station. The railway lists fastest journeys of 33 minutes on Special Rapid services and 37 minutes on Rapid services. Those are train times, so travelers still need to allow for collecting luggage, waiting for a departure and reaching the hotel.

Rooms, Skyline Views and Hokkaido Dining

The hotel website lists 216 rooms, including nine suites, with Sapporo skyline views. Hyatt says guestrooms start at 36 square meters. The interiors draw on Hokkaido’s landscapes and regional crafts, with a fireplace lounge providing a shared space between outings. Listed amenities include a fitness center, free internet access, digital check-in and digital keys.

Matsu Grill & Bar occupies the 17th floor, pairing Hokkaido ingredients with wood-fired cooking and Mediterranean influences. At ground level, Mr. Fish serves seasonal local white fish with Hokkaido potatoes, alongside takeaway options. The two venues give guests different ways to eat at the property, from a sit-down meal above the city to a quicker stop before heading out.

What the Opening Offer Includes

Hyatt’s opening announcement sets an October 31, 2026 booking deadline for qualifying stays from October 3 through December 31, 2026. Direct bookings under the advertised offer include:

  • 15% savings, or 17% for World of Hyatt members
  • Daily breakfast for each registered guest
  • A JPY3,000 hotel credit per room, per stay, usable at the two dining venues, in-room dining or the minibar

Members booking the “New Hotel Member Bonus Offer” rate can also earn 2x World of Hyatt points on eligible spending. The program’s offer terms limit the promotion to qualifying rates and stays, double only Base Points, and cap the promotional award at 25,000 Bonus Points per stay. Membership is required at both booking and during the stay.

Availability is limited, and cancellation, deposit and refund conditions depend on the booking. Travelers should compare the promotional rate with other available rates for their dates, including whether they would use the breakfast and hotel credit.

Check the Full Cost Before Booking

Sapporo and Hokkaido accommodation taxes apply to stays from April 1, 2026. The city’s tax notice lists combined charges per guest, per night: JPY300 for accommodation rates below JPY20,000; JPY400 from JPY20,000 to below JPY50,000; and JPY1,000 at JPY50,000 or more. The applicable band is based on the accommodation charge per person.

As we explained in our hotel tax coverage, local charges are an increasingly important part of comparing stays in Japan. Check the final booking total and whether these levies are already included before treating a percentage discount as the full saving.
