Angie Licea will step down as president of Global Travel Collection, Internova Travel Group announced on October 14. She will stay with Internova during the leadership transition while exploring other opportunities within the organisation, rather than departing the parent company outright.
Licea and Internova CEO J.D. O’Hara have been working together to identify GTC’s next leader, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks. Internova did not name a successor or give a specific departure date in its statement.
Since GTC launched in 2020, Licea has helped build it into a $2.4 billion business, according to Internova. She led the unification of Protravel International, Tzell Travel Group and ALTOUR Leisure and Entertainment under the GTC brand while preserving the independent culture of its advisors.
Her appointment dates to Internova’s 2020 reorganisation, when the group outlined a new division for high-service independent advisors. Licea joined Travel Leaders Group in 2012, and her nearly four-decade career includes roles at US Airways, American Express and Rosenbluth International.
GTC now represents more than 1,500 advisors serving leisure travellers, corporate executives and entertainment clients. The leadership change comes alongside wider investment in advisor support: we previously covered Internova’s AI centre initiative. Licea will remain involved as the group prepares to hand over GTC’s leadership.
