Alaska Airlines is entering the European market for the first time with new transatlantic routes launching next spring. The carrier confirmed an April 28 start date for its Seattle-Rome service, originally planned at four weekly flights but now upgraded to daily operations.
Alaska will operate the route using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, positioning itself against Delta, which launches its own Seattle–Rome flights in May with Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
In addition to Rome, Alaska will expand service from Seattle to London Heathrow and Reykjavik, Iceland, rounding out its first trio of European destinations. The move marks a major strategic milestone for the airline as it broadens its long-haul network beyond North America.
These new routes are expected to strengthen Alaska’s international footprint and provide Seattle travelers with more nonstop options to Europe during the peak travel season.
