Onyx Launches OnyxPay to Simplify Hotel Commission Payments
OnyxPay brings new tracking and reconciliation tools to hotel commission payments, with customer onboarding beginning in October.
Onyx CenterSource has launched OnyxPay, a platform designed to help hotels and travel agencies track and reconcile commission payments. Customer onboarding begins in October 2026, with access and features expanding through a phased rollout.
For travel advisors, the practical issue is what happens after a client’s hotel stay: identifying which commission has been paid, which remains outstanding and where to follow up.
What OnyxPay Changes
According to the launch announcement, agencies will gain transaction-level visibility, grouped-payment tracking and data exports for reconciliation. Hotels will be able to check funding and payment status, review historical records and identify items requiring action.
The platform also introduces flexible funding and payout frequencies, approval workflows and access controls. AI-assisted matching is intended to recognize hotel and agency records that refer to the same business, reducing duplicate entries and manual investigation.
The useful test for an agency will be whether a payment can be matched to its booking records without a separate spreadsheet investigation. For a hotel finance team, it will be whether an unresolved item is clear enough to act on.
Why Visibility Matters More Than a New Dashboard
Onyx cited an average hotel commission payment time of 41 days in its second-quarter 2026 data. That figure describes its reported benchmark, rather than a promised settlement time for OnyxPay.
In a previous statement, the company explained that it needs both booking data and funds from hotels before it can process a commission. Those inputs can arrive at different times. Onyx said it does not hold agency funds beyond the technical processing period and that payment timing ultimately depends on hotels releasing the money.
Clearer tracking may therefore help an advisor understand a delay, but it cannot by itself supply missing funds or booking information. Agencies evaluating the platform should distinguish between a more useful payment record and a measurable reduction in the time it takes to receive money.
A Separate Status Tool Is Already Available
The launch follows Onyx’s August introduction of a status tool for agency partners, non-member agencies and independent advisors. Entering booking details lets an advisor check the stage of a hotel-initiated commission payment, including whether Onyx has received the hotel’s funds.
That earlier tool addresses a specific question about an existing payment. Advisors seeking an update can check its availability without treating the OnyxPay announcement as confirmation that their own account has already moved to the new platform.
We recently covered Voyagier, which brings AI tools and booking inventory into an advisor-focused platform. Commission administration addresses another part of the same working day: accounting for the income generated by those reservations.
For agencies considering the transition, the priorities are practical: check when their account will move, how payment exports fit their existing records and who on the team needs approval rights. A successful rollout should make outstanding commissions easier to understand and follow up.
