Minor Hotels is bringing one of London’s most recognizable restaurant brands into the hotel sector with the launch of the Wolseley Hotel New York. The luxury property will mark the global debut of The Wolseley Hotels brand and is scheduled to open in Midtown Manhattan in early 2027.

The 76-room hotel will be located in a historic 1905 building on West 44th Street near Bryant Park. The property currently houses the Chatwal Hotel and the Lambs Club restaurant, but it will be fully reimagined as the first hotel under the new Wolseley hospitality brand.

The concept builds on the reputation of The Wolseley restaurant in London, a landmark dining destination on Piccadilly known for its elegant Art Deco design and all-day café culture. Minor Hotels launched The Wolseley Hotels brand in 2025 as part of its luxury portfolio, which already includes brands such as Anantara, Elewana, and Tivoli.

Executives say New York was chosen for the brand’s first hotel because of the city’s global status as a cultural and culinary capital.

A Historic Midtown Building Reimagined

The Wolseley Hotel New York will occupy a building with deep ties to the city’s cultural history. Constructed in 1905, the property originally served as the headquarters for The Lambs Club, the oldest professional theatrical club in the United States.

The building was designed by the prominent architecture firm McKim, Mead & White, which is also responsible for landmarks such as the Brooklyn Museum and the Morgan Library. Over the decades, the property developed strong connections to Broadway and New York’s theater community.

Developers plan to preserve the building’s historic character while transforming it into a luxury boutique hotel. The property will feature 76 guest rooms and suites designed to reflect the style and elegance associated with the original Wolseley restaurant in London.

Dining will remain central to the hotel’s identity. The property will introduce The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the United States, offering an all-day dining concept inspired by the London flagship. The restaurant is expected to attract both hotel guests and local visitors, continuing the tradition of the London venue as a social hub.

The hotel will also include a wellness center and a cellar-level speakeasy bar designed to create a more intimate nightlife atmosphere beneath the main dining spaces.

A New Luxury Hotel Brand With Global Plans

The New York property will serve as the foundation for the broader expansion of The Wolseley Hotels brand. Minor Hotels says the concept is designed to combine luxury hospitality with the social energy and dining culture associated with the original restaurant.

Future hotels are already being considered across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Each property is expected to be individually designed to reflect its local destination while maintaining the signature style and dining focus of the brand.

By placing restaurants and social spaces at the center of the hotel experience, the brand aims to attract travelers looking for culturally connected destinations rather than traditional luxury accommodations.

Room rates and booking details for the New York property are expected to be announced closer to its planned opening in 2027.
