India has significantly broadened its Visa-on-Arrival access for travelers from the United Arab Emirates, marking an important step in strengthening tourism and business ties between the two countries.
By expanding the program to nine major airports, India aims to streamline entry for short-term visitors and support the growing number of UAE residents who travel for leisure, medical treatment, conferences, and business.
The addition of Kochi, Calicut, and Ahmedabad to the existing list of airports offering Visa-on-Arrival services is expected to make travel planning easier, reduce processing times, and encourage more spontaneous trips.
This expansion reflects India’s ongoing efforts to modernize its border procedures and improve the overall travel experience for international visitors.
The Visa-on-Arrival facility is available exclusively to UAE nationals who have previously been granted an Indian visa, whether electronic, paper, or unused. This requirement helps confirm the traveler’s credentials while simplifying the process for frequent visitors.
Eligible travelers must ensure that their passport is valid for at least six months and contains two blank pages for visa stamping. The program permits stays of up to sixty days, with the option for double entry within the same period, making it suitable for travelers combining business with leisure or planning multi-city itineraries.
The visa is neither extendable nor convertible, but there is no limit on how many times a traveler may use the facility, allowing seamless repeat visits.
Upon arrival, UAE nationals complete a straightforward process that includes filling out the Annexure-A application form and the disembarkation card. These documents can be submitted digitally before arrival using India’s official visa app or portal, which reduces waiting time at airports.
Travelers may also be asked to show proof of sufficient funds, confirmation of accommodation, and return or onward travel. These measures ensure smooth entry while maintaining security standards. The visa fee is set at 2,000 rupees per traveler, including children, which makes the process affordable for families and business groups alike.
India’s decision to expand this program acknowledges the importance of the UAE as a key tourism and aviation partner. With strong airline connectivity and a large expatriate population traveling frequently between the two countries, the simplified entry process is likely to boost tourism numbers and encourage cross-border business activity.
The inclusion of airports like Kochi and Calicut is especially significant, given the large number of UAE-based travelers with roots in Kerala, while Ahmedabad adds convenience for those visiting western India.
As more travelers benefit from this streamlined entry option, the move is expected to encourage last-minute travel, support medical tourism, and further strengthen the cultural and economic bridge between India and the UAE.
