IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to bring its boutique Kimpton brand to Indonesia for the first time with the opening of Kimpton Bali Ubud in early 2026, according to the company’s press release. The new 101-room property will be situated in the spiritual and artistic heart of Ubud, along the sacred Wos River, and presents a significant expansion of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Southeast Asia.

A Tailored Sanctuary in Ubud

Kimpton Bali Ubud is designed to reflect the brand’s signature fusion of distinctive design and intimate hospitality. Each of the 101 rooms will be thoughtfully appointed to harmonize modern comforts with local character. The property will include three restaurants, a cafe/deli, a fully equipped gym, spa, and pool, ensuring a well-rounded guest experience.

Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for IHG in South West Asia & South East Asia and Korea, expressed the company’s vision:

“Introducing Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants to Indonesia marks a significant milestone in our luxury and lifestyle growth strategy in the region. Bali has long been synonymous with vibrant travel experiences, and Ubud is at the heart of that. The Kimpton brand is known for its inspiring design, award-winning dining, and heartfelt service—values that will resonate deeply with guests seeking immersive stays in one of the world’s most spiritually rich destinations.”

A standout feature is IMAMURA, a Japanese restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Imamura, bringing refined Japanese cuisine to the heart of Ubud in collaboration with GHS K.K.

Strategic Growth in Southeast Asia

This hotel marks IHG’s first foray into Bali’s cultural hub and strengthens its Indonesian portfolio, which currently includes 31 hotels with 11 more in development. The launch of Kimpton Bali Ubud aligns with regional travel trends favoring wellness, design-led stays, and culturally immersive experiences.

Kimpton Bali Ubud will join other high-profile IHG properties across Indonesia, including Regent Bali Canggu and Six Senses Uluwatu, enhancing the group’s appeal to internationally minded guests seeking boutique luxury in distinctive destinations.

Brand Expansion and Guest Experience

Kimpton originated in San Francisco in 1981 and has since grown into a global lifestyle brand under IHG’s ownership, known for design-forward aesthetics and a welcoming atmosphere. This Bali property will uphold the brand ethos—unexpected personal touches, locally inspired design, and memorable dining.

The hotel’s prime location offers easy access to iconic sites like the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Sacred Monkey Forest, and Ubud Palace, making it a gateway to cultural exploration and spiritual discovery.
