Frontier Airlines is making a bold push to expand its network before the year’s end, announcing plans to launch 22 new routes across the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America between November and December 2025. This flurry of additions spans both domestic corridors and tourist hotspots, delivering more travel flexibility and low-cost options just in time for the holiday travel rush.

A Blend of U.S. Hubs and Tropical Escapes

The expansion brings a wide range of new connections that appeal to both leisure travelers and those visiting friends and relatives abroad. From major U.S. cities such as Atlanta, Dallas–Fort Worth, Chicago, and Washington Dulles, Frontier will add nonstop service to popular vacation spots. New Caribbean options include Turks and Caicos (Providenciales), Nassau in the Bahamas, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Santiago in the Dominican Republic.

Mexico also features prominently, with new flights to Puerto Vallarta and San José del Cabo, two destinations famous for their beaches, nightlife, and resort offerings. Meanwhile, in Central America, Frontier is opening access to Guatemala City, San Salvador, San Pedro Sula, and San José (Costa Rica) – routes that serve both tourism and family connections, given the strong diaspora ties between these cities and U.S. communities.

Domestic travelers will also benefit. The new schedule includes shorter-haul routes like Atlanta to Memphis and Milwaukee, Spokane to Phoenix, Phoenix to Reno, and Minneapolis–St. Paul to Chicago O’Hare. These routes expand Frontier’s U.S. footprint beyond its strongholds, giving budget-minded travelers more choices without needing to connect through larger hubs.

The pricing strategy also underscores Frontier’s mission to dominate the ultra-low-cost market. With fares starting at just $19, the airline hopes to capture budget travelers eager to take last-minute trips or explore new destinations. The timing – just ahead of the Thanksgiving and winter holiday season –  will also test whether Frontier can attract families and leisure groups seeking affordable options during peak travel periods.

Strategic Expansion Amid Competitive Tensions

Frontier’s sweeping route rollout reflects more than simple growth – it’s a strategic response to shifting dynamics in the low-cost carrier market. Spirit Airlines, once a fierce competitor, is struggling under the weight of financial instability and has been forced to reduce service in several markets. By contrast, Frontier is seizing the moment to grow aggressively and secure new territory.

At TravelCapybara, we covered Frontier’s earlier announcement of 20 new routes amid rising Spirit competition, and this additional set of 22 routes builds directly on that momentum. It signals Frontier’s determination to position itself as the most reliable ultra-low-cost carrier in the U.S., especially at a time when rivals face uncertainty.

Southwest Airlines’ decision to alter its baggage policies has also reshaped the competitive field. Frontier, long known for its stripped-down model with added-fee options, now finds itself with an opportunity to reinforce its pricing advantage. By boosting route density and entering leisure-heavy markets, the airline can maximize aircraft utilization and appeal to travelers frustrated by shrinking low-cost options elsewhere.

The airline’s late-2025 expansion is not only about filling gaps left by competitors – it’s about solidifying long-term growth. By offering new domestic routes alongside high-demand Caribbean and Latin American destinations, Frontier is diversifying its network in a way that could sustain customer loyalty well into 2026. For passengers, it means cheaper fares, more direct flights, and the ability to explore a broader range of destinations without stretching budgets.
