Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has begun rolling out high-speed onboard Wi-Fi powered by Starlink, offering free connectivity to members of its EuroBonus loyalty program. The service is initially being introduced on the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet, with plans to expand across additional aircraft types later in 2026.

The move reflects SAS’s broader effort to align inflight connectivity with modern passenger expectations, where continuous internet access is increasingly seen as essential rather than optional. Through its partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network and telecom provider 3, SAS says passengers can access speeds of up to 500 Mbps, enabling activities ranging from work and streaming to messaging and browsing.

The rollout positions SAS alongside a growing number of airlines investing in next-generation satellite connectivity. Starlink has rapidly gained traction in aviation, with major airline groups such as Lufthansa Group, IAG, Air France, and Emirates also adopting the technology to upgrade onboard internet performance. Even outside aviation, operators like Italian high-speed rail company Italo are preparing to deploy similar systems.

For SAS, the strategy is closely tied to customer loyalty. By offering free high-speed Wi-Fi to EuroBonus members, the airline is using connectivity as a differentiator to strengthen engagement and enhance the overall travel experience. The initiative also highlights how airlines are increasingly integrating digital services into their core product, rather than treating them as add-ons.

As competition intensifies across European aviation, the ability to deliver fast, reliable onboard internet is becoming a key factor in both customer satisfaction and brand positioning.
