Southwest Airlines is broadening its rollout of the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID program following a successful pilot in Denver last month. The technology is now available at major hubs including Atlanta, New York LaGuardia, Portland, Seattle and Salt Lake City.

Rapid Rewards members who are enrolled in TSA PreCheck and have a valid passport can opt in through the Southwest app to use the touchless identity verification process.

With Touchless ID, travelers simply scan their mobile boarding pass and look into a camera, allowing the system to match their live photo to the passport image on file. The aim is to create a faster, more seamless security experience without exchanging physical documents.

Southwest has also reinstated digital bag check, enabling passengers to check and pay for up to three standard bags before arriving at the airport. Accepted payment methods include Apple Pay, PayPal and major credit cards.
