San Diego International Airport has launched the SAN Pass, a new program that gives non-travelers the rare opportunity to enter post-security areas without a boarding pass. Designed to reconnect the public with the full airport experience, the program allows approved visitors to meet loved ones at the gate or explore the airport’s dining and shopping options in Terminals 1 and 2.

Interested visitors must apply up to seven days in advance, providing basic identification details for TSA review. A limited number of passes are available daily, and successful applicants receive a digital SAN Pass that must be presented along with a REAL ID at security. While pass holders must follow standard TSA procedures, they are not eligible for expedited screening programs.

Each minor needs their own approved pass and must be accompanied by an authorized adult, allowing families to use the program together. The launch expands community access to the airport while maintaining full security compliance.
