Viking has announced the return of Michele Saegesser as vice president of sales and national accounts, marking a notable leadership comeback for the river and ocean cruise company. Saegesser previously retired from the role in January of last year after more than two decades with the brand, but has remained closely connected to Viking throughout 2025 by leading motivational training initiatives for the company.

The news was shared internally on December 11 by Milton Hugh, Viking’s executive vice president, who emphasized the value of Saegesser’s experience and leadership. “Viking is much stronger with Michele back on the team,” Hugh said, underscoring her long-standing influence on the company’s sales strategy and advisor relationships.

Hugh also confirmed continuity within the national accounts team, noting that Michael Eng and Erik De La Cruz, both senior directors of national accounts, will continue in their current roles. Their ongoing presence is expected to provide stability as Saegesser reassumes oversight of Viking’s sales and trade engagement efforts.

Before joining Viking 25 years ago, Saegesser built an extensive career across multiple sectors of the travel industry. Her previous experience includes roles with Disney, Princess Cruises, Rocky Mountaineer, Hurtigruten, Luxury Trains of the World, and Via Rail Canada. That broad background has long been viewed as a key asset in shaping Viking’s approach to travel advisors and distribution partners.

Saegesser’s return signals Viking’s continued focus on strengthening its sales leadership and reinforcing long-term relationships across the travel trade.
